The Associated Press reports that "a gunman wounded two Israelis working at a packed central Denmark shopping mall Wednesday, Danish police said. The two wounded men are Israelis in their 20s, police spokesman Lars Thede said."
Politikin.dk writes that "one of the victims was hit in the arm, the other was wounded in the leg, according to reports. Both were taken to hospital, but police were unable to provide information on their condition. Eyewitnesses told bt.dk that the perpetrator arrived in a hairdresser’s salon owned by one of the Israelis. He was said by eyewitnesses to have shouted something ‘in a Middle-Eastern language’ after which he began shooting. One of the Israelis was said to have tried to flee, while the other threw a stool at the man. Both, however, were hit. The police spokesman said that six bullets had been fired."

Israel Rightly Rejects International Push For Cease-Fire With Hamas

Eitam further warned against repeating the mistakes made in the battle against Hezbollah two and a half years ago stating that Israel's "failure last time in Lebanon is that which created the present situation… Everything taking place now in Gaza is a direct imitation of what happened in Lebanon: the way they prepared themselves on the ground, firing rockets at our cities, etc. In Lebanon, we had a few excuses, in that our army wasn’t perfectly ready, and Hizbullah had a home front behind them constantly re-supplying them and helping them – but here in Gaza this is not true: Our army is ready, there is no home front behind them, and we will have no excuse for not dealing them a total defeat. If we do not now effect the total defeat of a terrorist organization to the point where they get down on their knees and beg for mercy, we will face a deterrence-loss crisis much greater than that which occurred following the Second Lebanon War.”
MK Eitam defined a “total defeat of Hamas” as dealing "a terrific blow to their military capabilities and to the desires of their decision-makers – if they are still around at the end; in my opinion they should not be - to resume firing rockets at us. Anything less will endanger us in the long run. Therefore, the test now is for the government leaders, not the army, which is ready and capable. If we fail, it will be a failure of the leadership. If they do half-a-job, it will have the gravest ramifications on our deterrence capability. Hamas can easily decide to stop firing rockets for a few day, if that is the condition for a ceasefire - and then where will we be? We will have had a small exchange of rockets between us, ending in a tie… We must not stop under any circumstances until we have achieved the objectives I stated above.”
Military historian Victor Davis Hanson writes: "Hamas blankets Israel for days with rockets and the Europeans are silent until Israel responds with force-only to be blamed for inordinate aggression-the subtext being both that the militarily capable party is to be condemned for being,well, too militarily capable, and that those who can field and deploy terrorists, or aid those who will, against Western targets are deserving of some sort of exemption."
Walid Phares, author of "Future Jihad," writes that "BBC, CNN and France 24 are also tilting towards Hamas, which is creating a sort of a media consensus against Israel. It is a repeat of Lebanon 2006 on the media level so far."
Both Hanson and Phares are pointing out the bias from the international community and the media when it comes to Israel. The media will no doubt focus on innocent Palestinian casualties and attempt to create a consensus against Israel. However, let us remind ourselves of the support that Hamas has among the civilian Palestinians of Gaza. The people of Gaza voted for Hamas after Israel had withdrawn from every last inch of the Gaza territory. The Gaza territory has since been turned into a Hamas jihadist enclave. Just two weeks ago a Hamas rally was held in which tens of thousands showed up to support Hamas and the continued war to destroy the Jewish State. Thousands celebrated the rocket attacks on innocent Israeli civilians and the illegal kidnapping of Israeli soldier Gilad Schalit from undisputed Israeli territory. The Left will cry rivers over a Guantanomo detainee, but somehow not shed a single tear for Gilad Schalit who has not surprisingly even been afforded one visit by the International Red Cross while in Hamas captivity. All these thousands of Gazans showing up to the rally are certainly not members of Hamas's armed wing. But they are in no way innocent. It is this rally from just two weeks ago that provides a necessary context that will not be heard in the media coverage of the Israeli strikes on Gaza.

Here is another Israeli Air Force video showing a precision strike on December 31 against a Gaza mosque that was being used to stock rockets. Secondary explosions are caused by the ignition of the Palestinian weapons cache. Hamas has no problem using a place of worship as a military site and base for terrorist activity.
Further, historian Michael Oren notes that "the current round of fighting provides Israel with an opportunity to end its painful chronicle of indecision on Gaza and to embark on a lucid and realizable policy. Can Israel co-exist with a Hamas-dominated Gaza? What are the alternatives (the reintroduction of Egyptian forces, for example) to a renewed Israeli occupation of the area? To what degree will the international community accept a zero-tolerance approach to rocket attacks against Israel, and, more crucially, will the incoming Obama administration publicly endorse that stance? These and other questions might be answered in the coming days if Israel, withstanding the media backlash, dares to ask them."

Israel Rains Fire Down On Gaza In Response To Rocket Attacks On Southern Israel
Israel has responded to the rocket attacks against her civilians by raining fire down on Hamas in the Gaza strip. The Jerusalem Post reports the response constitutes the "heaviest military strike against the Gaza Strip since the 1967 Six Day War" as "the Israel Air Force bombed over 170 targets on Saturday, killing more than 230 Palestinians." "Operation Cast Lead" is aimed at putting a stop to Hamas rocket attacks against southern Israel.
The Jerusalem Post continues saying that "in two waves, over 100 fighter jets and attack helicopters dropped dozens of smart bombs and hundreds of tons of explosives on Hamas training camps, headquarters, weapons storehouses, underground missile silos and command-and-control centers scattered throughout the Gaza Strip. In response, 80 Kassam rockets, Grad-model Katyushas and mortar shells pounded southern Israel throughout the day. One rocket scored a direct hit on an apartment building in Netivot, killing 58-year-old Beber Vaknin and wounding several others." Reuters reports that "Israel said it had bombed a mosque in Gaza City on Saturday because it was used for 'terrorist activities.'... An Israeli military spokesman said Israel had sought to avoid attacking religious institutions but 'anyone responsible for attacks (on Israel) will not find refuge in any facility.'"
"There is a time for a cease-fire and a time to fight. Now is the time to fight," declared Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak.
Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni said in a statement: "Until now we have shown restraint. But today there is no other option than a military operation. We need to protect our citizens from attack through a military response against the terror infrastructure in Gaza. This is the expression of our basic right to self-defense. Israel left Gaza in order to create an opportunity for peace. In return, the Hamas terror organization took control of Gaza and is using its citizens as cover while it deliberately targets Israeli communities and denies any chance for peace. We have tried everything to reach calm without using force. We agreed to a truce through Egypt that was violated by Hamas, which continued to target Israel, hold Gilad Shalit and build up its arms."
Hamas leaders threatened revenge with Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum declaring they "will continue the resistance until the last drop of blood." Hamas spokesman Abu Ubaida said the group will "teach the enemy a lesson they will never forget".
I hope that the Israeli strikes will send a message to the Islamic terrorist in a language they understand. I can only pray that the strikes are successful. Israel should not ever apologize for defending her citizens. If cease-fires and negotiations actually led to peace and security then Israel would be the most peaceful and secure country on earth. Military strikes should not end until terrorism ends. So long as Hamas controls Gaza a state of war exists. The patience of Israel seems to have run out after 200 rockets fell on southern Israel this past week. Rocket attacks that the media will no doubt ignore as it focuses on the suffering of the poor Palestinians. Israel should not feel compelled to wait for over 60 rockets to fall on the country in the course of a single day before responding. The past 60 years are more than enough justification.
The international community, the media, and others, will no doubt want us to extend our sympathy to the Palestinians in Gaza. There will be calls for Israel to show "restraint," though the last time restraint ever stopped a dedicated terrorist foe eludes me. Let us not forget that these are the very same Palestinians that voted in Hamas to take over the Palestinian Parliament. These are the very same Palestinians who allow Gaza to be used as a base for rocket launchings against innocent Israeli civilians, the very same Palestinians who allow for the indoctrination of Gaza children into a cult of death, the very same Palestinians that glorify the suicide bomber from the Mosque pulpit, and the very same Palestinians that use populations centers and human shields as a cover for terrorist activity. Furthemore, this is the very same Gaza which Israel abandoned. Israel withdrew every soldier and settler and gave the Palestinians control of the territory. In fact, greenhouses used by the settlers were left behind for Palestinian use and the Palestinians burned them to the ground. They took the retreat from Gaza as a sign that terrorism works and that the jihad against Israel must continue until the Jewish State is destroyed. Israel today seems to be sending a very different message. If the Palestinians had worked to build themselves a better society in the Gaza Strip instead of continuing their war and terrorism against Israel, there would be no military strike against Gaza today. The peace process has always been irrelevant when dealing with Palestinians that have no desire for peace. Israel is on the front lines in the global battle against radical Islamic Jihadism. I hope and pray that the Israeli response is successful in weakening the Islamoterrorist enemy not only in the short term but in the long term as well.

Over 60 Islamoterror Rocket Attacks Bombard Southern Israel In One Day
Gaza Islamoterrorists continue to bombard southern Israel with rocket attacks aimed at killing innocent civilians. On Wednesday two Kassam rockets fell on Eshkol and the Sha'ar Hanegev region only moments after five mortar shells had hit a kibbutz. Over 60 rockets and mortar shells were fired at Ashkelon and the western Negev throughout the day. The Associated Press reported that "a rocket slammed directly into a house in the small community of Tkuma seconds after a father rushed his children from the living room into a bomb shelter. The living room wall had a gaping hole and was sprayed with shrapnel. Toys lay covered in rubble and dust. A crib was pocked by shrapnel and filled with pieces of concrete." The Jerusalem Post reported that "a number of Grad-type rockets were fired at Ashkelon throughout the morning. One of them struck outside the home of Benny Gueta, sending several people into shock. 'We heard the alarm and the whistling as it approached, and then we heard a big explosion,' which destroyed a storage shed and shattered some of the house's windows, Gueta said. 'We can't live this way,' Gueta told Israel Radio. 'It's no way to live.'" In response, the Jerualem Post states that Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak announced "that Israel would hold up a shipment of food and humanitarian supplies that was due to be delivered to residents of the Gaza Strip during the day." The AP reports that "amid the violence, both sides have expressed willingness to consider reviving the truce that lapsed on Friday."
I first must point out the astounding media bias when it comes to Israel. The AP headline about the rocket attacks against Israel declared that "Dozens of militant rockets, mortars barrage Israel." Militant rockets?! To borrow and amend the old NRA adage, rockets don't kill people, people kill people. Furthermore, the article continously refers to "Palestinian militants." Why the reluctance to call these barbarians what they are? They are Islamic terrorists and the media should have no qualms about labeling them as such.
When will this madness end? Can the Israeli government not hear the plight of its own citizens constantly declaring that this is "no way to live"? Even more, to perish in a Palestinian rocket attack as many already have is no way to die. The current Israeli response is to hold up a shipment of humanitarian supplies? Are you kidding me? Rockets fall on Israel and Israel expresses willingness to negotiate? Neville Chamberlain would be proud. Can you imagine if San Diego were being constantly bombarded by rockets targeting and killing innocent civilians and the government response was to resolutely declare that humanitarian aid to the enemy would be held up?
Israel withdrew from Gaza pulling every settler and soldier out of the area a number of years ago. Has it brought peace? Absolutely not. It brought Hamas into power. It brought us the already forgotten kidnapping of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit who still remains a captive. It brought more rocket attacks on Israel than before the retreat from Gaza. But I thought that the Palestinians were fighting to end the occupation? The withdrawal from Gaza should have dispelled that notion to anyone not blinded by Jew hatred. All it did was allow Hamas to declare that terrorism had worked and forced the Jews to flee from Gaza. All it did is encourage the Islamoterrorists to continue their war against Israel from the river to the sea.
The response of Israel must be overwhelming. A peace process has not worked and will not work anytime soon. Israel needs a victory process. Israel needs to stop arguing they have the right to self-defense and start arguing that they have the right to offense. This tit for tat "you hit Israel with rockets, I hold up shipments of aid" is madness that cannot be continued. The Palestinian terrorists are serious about their clearly stated goals of destroying the Jewish State. It is about time the Israeli government took their enemy seriously and acted accordingly.

Guilty Verdicts In Fort Dix Attack Plot Trial
The Associated Press reports that "five Muslim immigrants were convicted Monday of plotting to massacre U.S. soldiers at Fort Dix in a case the government said demonstrated its post-Sept. 11 determination to stop terrorist attacks in the planning stages." The jihadists "face life in prison for conspiring to kill military personnel." The AP says tha "the men lived in and around Philadelphia for years. Leftists are in love with the man who threw two shoes at President Bush in Iraq that Bush impressively dodged. What that Iraqi did took no courage. It is with the Iranian student that true courage lies, not with a shoe throwing wackjob. It is a shame that there are some Americans that do not recognize this and who hate America more than America's fanatical and truly evil jihadist enemy.
Iran is a very dangerous threat to American and global security because of their desire to obtain nuclear weapons. Iran is perhaps the most dangerous foreign policy threat that Obama will face in his administration and I hope that he does all in his power to stop the Iranian regime from obtaining nuclear capabilities. One child declares that "we, the students of the Basij, want to show the people of the world that we are always ready to follow the words of Imam Khomeini, who said: 'If we number 60 million, we must have a 60 million strong army, and 60 million people ready for war.'" Another child says that he commemorates "the martyr Hossein Fahmideh. He was a 13-year-old boy who threw himself under an enemy tank, and was martyred." Anger Over Washington's Atheism Display In State Capitol Building
The video does not include the fact that a Hanukah menorah can also be found in the capitol building. There is a clear difference between the "holiday tree," nativity scene, or menorah and the atheist sign. The religious symbols are meant to celebrate specific religous holidays. The atheist placard serves the sole purpose of offending and demeaning religion. It does not celebrate anything and it is certainly not seasonal in any way. The atheist sign declares, in part: “There are no gods, no devils, no heaven or hell. There is only our natural world. Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds.” George Washington would disagree with the sign gracing the halls of the the State of Washington's capitol building. George Washington declared that "reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle."
But if athiest signs is what it takes to allow for religous holiday symbols, then so be it.

Answering Thomas Friedman's Question: "What Can We Expect From Pakistan And The Wider Muslim World After Mumbai?"
Thomas Friedman wrote the following in a New York Times opinion piece:
"On Feb. 6, 2006, three Pakistanis died in Peshawar and Lahore during violent street protests against Danish cartoons that had satirized the Prophet Muhammad. More such mass protests followed weeks later. When Pakistanis and other Muslims are willing to take to the streets, even suffer death, to protest an insulting cartoon published in Denmark, is it fair to ask: Who in the Muslim world, who in Pakistan, is ready to take to the streets to protest the mass murders of real people, not cartoon characters, right next door in Mumbai? After all, if 10 young Indians from a splinter wing of the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party traveled by boat to Pakistan, shot up two hotels in Karachi and the central train station, killed at least 173 people, and then, for good measure, murdered the imam and his wife at a Saudi-financed mosque while they were cradling their 2-year-old son — purely because they were Sunni Muslims — where would we be today? The entire Muslim world would be aflame and in the streets. So what can we expect from Pakistan and the wider Muslim world after Mumbai?"

Senator Jim DeMint: New Capitol Visitor Center Omits "The History Of Faith" And Has Displays That Are "Left-Leaning And...Distort Our True History"

“The Capitol Visitor Center is designed to tell the history and purpose of our nation's Capitol, but it fails to appropriately honor our religious heritage that has been critical to America’s success. While the Architect of the Capitol has pledged to include some references to faith, more needs to be done. You cannot accurately tell the history of America or its Capitol by ignoring the religious heritage of our Founders and the generations since who relied on their faith for strength and guidance. The millions of visitors that will visit the CVC each year should get a true portrayal of the motivations and inspirations of those who have served in Congress since its establishment.
“The current CVC displays are left-leaning and in some cases distort our true history. Exhibits portray the federal government as the fulfillment of human ambition and the answer to all of society’s problems. This is a clear departure from acknowledging that Americans’ rights ‘are endowed by their Creator’ and stem from ‘a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence.’ Instead, the CVC’s most prominent display proclaims faith not in God, but in government. Visitors will enter reading a large engraving that states, ‘We have built no temple but the Capitol. We consult no common oracle but the Constitution.’ This is an intentional misrepresentation of our nation’s real history, and an offensive refusal to honor America's God-given blessings. As George Washington stated clearly in his first inaugural address:
‘…[I]t would be peculiarly improper to omit in this first official Act, my fervent supplications to that Almighty Being who rules over the Universe, who presides in the Councils of Nations, and whose providential aids can supply every human defect, that his benediction may consecrate to the liberties and happiness of the People of the United States, a Government instituted by themselves for these essential purposes: and may enable every instrument employed in its administration to execute with success, the functions allotted to his charge.’
“The fundamental principles of the freedom we enjoy in this country stem from our Founding Fathers’ beliefs in a higher power, beliefs put forth in the Declaration of Independence and manifest throughout our Constitution. If we cease to acknowledge this fact, we may cease to enjoy some of the freedoms we take for granted. We must not censor historical references to God for the sake of political correctness. And we must truthfully represent the limited form of government the Constitution lays out so that our ‘government of the people, by the people, and for the people, shall not perish from the earth.’ So help us God.”

Rabbi And His Wife Among The 5 Dead At The Mumbai Chabad House
The horrific terrorist attacks in Mumbai serve as a reminder of the evil that is the Islamofascist enemy. As usual, the terrorist specifically targeted Jews, for no other reason other than that they were Jews. The Chabad Jewish Center of Mumbai was taken hostage by the Islamoterrorists. Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg, his wife Rivki Holtzberg, and a number of Israelis inside the building were massacred. The Rabbi's 2 year old baby Moishe managed to escape with an Indian employee. My prayers go out to the Holtzberg family and to all the families mourning their perished loved ones.

IAEA Reports On Increasing Uranium Stockpile In Iran
The Financial Times reports:
"Iran is forging ahead with its nuclear programme, the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog reported on Wednesday, deepening the dilemma facing US president-elect Barack Obama over his campaign promise to engage with Tehran. The latest report by the International Atomic Energy Agency reveals that Iran is rapidly increasing its stockpile of enriched uranium, which could be rendered into weapons-grade material should Tehran decide to develop a nuclear device. The agency says that, as of this month, Tehran had amassed 630kg of low enriched uranium hexafluoride, up from 480kg in late August. Analysts say Iran is enriching uranium at such a pace that, by early next year, it could reach break-out capacity – one step away from producing enough fissile material for a crude nuclear bomb. 'They are moving forward, they are not making diplomatic overtures, they are accumulating low enriched uranium,' said Cliff Kupchan, an analyst at the Eurasia Group, a risk consultancy in Washington. 'These guys are committed to their nuclear programme: if we didn’t know that, they just told us again.' The IAEA report also says there has been a breakdown of communication between the agency and Iran over alleged research on an atomic weapon. 'The Iranians are making good progress on enrichment but there is absolute stone-walling on past military activities,' said Mark Fitzpatrick of the International institute for Strategic Studies. 'It’s very disappointing.'”

California Supreme Court Agrees To Hear Challenge To Prop 8 Constitutional Amendment Defining Marriage
The AP reports:
"California's highest court has agreed to hear legal challenges to a new ban on gay marriage, but is refusing to allow gay couples to resume marrying until it rules. The California Supreme Court on Wednesday accepted three lawsuits seeking to overturn Proposition 8. The amendment passed this month with 52 percent of the vote. The court did not elaborate on its decision."
I hope the arrogant California Supreme Court does not dare to overturn the will of the people as enshrined in the State Constitution. It would be an outrage of the highest magnitude.

The Gaurdian reports that "Hillary Clinton plans to accept the job of secretary of state offered by Barack Obama...Since being elected senator for New York, she has specialised in foreign affairs and defence. Although she supported the war in Iraq, she and Obama basically agree on a withdrawal of American troops. Clinton, who still harbours hopes of a future presidential run, had to weigh up whether she would be better placed by staying in the Senate, which offers a platform for life, or making the more uncertain career move to the secretary of state job."

Republican Senator Jim Inhofe: "Congress Abdicated Its Constitutional Responsibility By Signing A Truly Blank Check Over To The Treasury Secretary"
Oklahoma Senator Jim Inhofe told the Tulsa World, "It is just outrageous that the American people don't know that Congress doesn't know how much money he (Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson) has given away to anyone. It could be to his friends. It could be to anybody else. We don't know. There is no way of knowing." Inhofe's comments came in response to the bait and switch from Henry Paulson recently in which the Treasury secretary announced he was abandoning the plan to free up the nation's credit system by buying up toxic assets from troubled financial institutions. "He was able to get this authority from Congress predicated on what he was going to do, and then he didn't do it. So, that's enough reason right there," Inhofe said. He went on to say, "I have learned a long time ago. When they come up and say this has to be done and has to be done immediately, there is no other way of doing it, you have to sit back and take a deep breath and nine times out of 10 they are not telling the truth. And this is one of those nine times.''
The following is the full text of a letter Ihofe to his colleagues in the Senate, dated November 15, 2008:
Dear Colleague,
I write to inform you of the actions I will be taking during the lame duck session of Congress regarding the funding status of the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP). Given the recent news about Secretary Paulson's execution of the TARP program, I firmly believe action is required by Congress. I plan to push for legislation that will require Secretary Paulson's plan for the remaining $350 billion in authorized TARP funds to be ratified by an affirmative vote in the U.S. Congress.
In my statement opposing the Paulson Plan last month, I laid out two primary reasons why I voted ‘no.' The first is that I wasn't convinced that asset-purchase program was the right way to do this, and the second is that it would lead to increased lobbying for handouts and bailouts by any industry facing financial trouble.
I stated at the time that my vote was against the Paulson plan - not against taking extraordinary action to provide necessary confidence to financial markets. I stated that "The Paulson plan would have Washington take $700 billion worth of toxic Wall Street assets from financial firms' balance sheets and put them on the balance sheet of the federal government.... I'm not confident in its success."
The critics were right. On October 14th, in a significant shift, Treasury outlined a plan to directly purchase equity stakes in of major financial institutions. The Wall Street Journal noted that "critics...say Treasury should have formulated a comprehensive plan earlier in the crisis." This past week, Secretary Paulson announced that he has completed a remarkable about face, as summarized by November 13th Investor's Business Daily front page headline, which read, "In Major Reversal, Treasury Won't Buy Bad Mortgage Debt." This is a complete reversal. Why did Paulson reverse course? Thursday's Los Angeles Times provides the answer. "Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson's decision to abandon plans to buy troubled bank assets shows that he has come to two conclusions about what was once the chief focus of the government's $700-billion bailout: The first is that it wouldn't work."
I know many of you have serious concerns about how Secretary Paulson has executed the financial rescue program and I share them with you. Congress abdicated its Constitutional responsibility by signing a truly blank check over to the Treasury Secretary. However, the lame duck session of Congress offers us a tremendous opportunity to change course. We should take it.
During the lame duck session, I will be taking the following actions. First and foremost, if Secretary Paulson submits his plan to Congress in order to access the remaining $350 billion while we are in session, a doubtful prospect, I plan to immediately introduce the disapproval resolution pursuant to Section 115 of the EESA and push for its enactment. I will also introduce and actively pursue enactment of legislation to do two things: First, it will amend Section 115 of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (EESA) to require an affirmative vote on the part of Congress to approve Treasury's plan for the remaining $350 billion, instead of the current statutory process which gives Secretary Paulson far too much latitude. Second, it will require a freeze on any remaining funds of the first $350 billion. It is imperative that we not allow that amount of money to be added to a deficit approaching $1 trillion this year without any input from the legislative branch.
Secretary Paulson stated in a CNBC interview at 2:00pm on Friday, November 14th that "the financial markets have been stabilized." If that is the case, it is Congress's duty to have a say in what happens with the remaining authorized amount of $350 billion. It is clear that it was a mistake to sign a blank check to one man for such a tremendous amount of money. Though there are still significant challenges in financial markets, it appears that the threat of a catastrophic financial crisis, which was the justification for the grant of such sweeping authority, has subsided. Perhaps the additional $350 billion should not be added to the deficit. Congress should have a debate.

L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa Compares Prop 8's Halting The Redefinition Of Marriage To Bans On Interracial Marriage

White Powder Sent To Mormom Temples In Los Angeles And Utah
The AP reports:
"Letters containing a suspicious white powder were sent Thursday to Mormon temples in Los Angeles and Salt Lake City that were the sites of protests against the church's support of California's gay marriage ban. The temple in the Westwood area of Los Angeles was evacuated before a hazardous materials crew determined the envelope's contents were not toxic, said FBI spokesman Jason Pack.
The temple in downtown Salt Lake City, where the church is based, received a similar envelope containing a white powder that spilled onto a clerk's hand. The room was decontaminated and the envelope taken by the FBI for testing. The clerk showed no signs of illness, but the scare shut down a building at Temple Square for more than an hour, said Scott Freitag, a spokesman for the Salt Lake City Fire Department."

The girl decided to do an experiment in which she would wear an "Obama girl" t-shirt on one day and a "McCain girl" t-shirt on the next day and see the varying reaction of her fellow students. "No On 8" Protest In Front Of NYC Mormon Temple
This protest took place on Wednesday night as thousands went to target the Mormon Temple in New York City with a protest. Apparently keeping the protests within California where the vote actually took place was not enough.
Allow me to provide you with a little thought experiment. Imagine for a moment that Prop 8 had not passed. What would be the reaction from those who supported it? I do not think people would be protesting across the nation. But let us take a moment to imagine that there would have been protests. Imagine what would happen if some pastor led a protest and blocked traffic on a major Los Angeles street in response to Prop 8 failing? Imagine if gay institutions were being targeted for protests by large groups of Christians and others who supported Prop 8? Suffice it to say I think the reaction from government on on all levels and the media would be very different.
%70 of blacks in California voted in favor of Prop 8. I wonder when the protests against inner city black churches are going to take place?
The logic that these sore losers give for targeting Mormom churches with protests is that Mormons had a large role in bankrolling the "Yes On 8" campaign. Apparently Mormons do not have the right to donate to a legitimate political campaign that they are passionate about. That is because the people who helped the "No On 8 Campaign" raise millions of dollars are open-minded progressives fighting for equality, while those dastardly Mormons that helped the "Yes on 8" campaign are narrow-minded hateful bigots. Let us be honest. I think the Mormons are a pretty easy target and that has something to do with why their churches are the target of these protests. I do not think targeting Mormons for protest is going to ruffle that many feathers. It does not take all that much courage to gather in front of a Mormon church in New York or Los Angeles and yell mindless slogans and chants.
In case you missed it, earlier this week there was a protest in Palm Springs, California. An old lady decided to walk right by the crowd with a styrofoam cross. It did not take long before it was violently pulled out of her hand and trampled by the crowd:

City Of Golden, Colorado Considers Banning All Religous Symbols From City Property After Rabbi Asks To Display Menorah Near Christmas Tree
A Rabbi asked the City of Golden if he could put up a menorah near the Christmas tree and the reaction of the city is to consider banning all religous symbols. The City of Golden claims that they do not want to have any religous symbols such as the menorah on city property. City of Golen spokesman Jonathan Ashford said that "the goal here is to set guidelines. The city has had a history of having a display downtown that didn't include any kind of specific religious message or theme. We've tried to keep it neutral, very open, very inclusive." The irony of banning a Jewish holiday symbol in the name of being "inclusive" and "very open" does not seem to dawn on Ashford.
How do they explain away a Christmas tree which they have no intention of getting rid of? After all, that is the symbol of the Christian holiday of Christmas. Don't be ridiculous, says the city, it's a "Holiday Tree." And what holiday would that be again?
I have a suggestion for the city. They should simply allow the Rabbi to put up his "Holiday Candelabra" next to the "Holiday Tree." Problem solved.
The first amendment is about freedom of religion, not freedom from religion. The secular-left crusade to ban any and all religous symbols marches on. A holiday tree? Are you kidding me? The first amendment was not meant to ban religion from the public square, it was meant to protect the freedom of worship. It was not meant to banish Christmas or Hanukah. The City of Golden should not be falling for this ACLU nonsense.
John Adams said, "Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." In 1796 George Washington said, "Reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle." I dare say that if these guys were running the City of Golden things would be different.

Director Of Sacramento's "California Musical Theater" Resigns After His Donation To The "Yes On Prop 8" Campaign
The Prop 8 fallout continues.
The Los Angeles Times reports that Theater Director Scott Eckern's donation in support of California's Prop. 8 defining marriage as between one man and one woman "turned into a lightning rod in the debate over gay rights." The L.A. Times says that Eckern resigned Wednesday claiming he wanted to protect the California Musical Theatre from controversy. The Theatre has been Eckern's "artistic home since 1984," says the Times. He has also been the nonprofit stage company's artistic director since 2003. Eckern's $1,000 donation had to be publicly reported under California election law. After this took place, the news of Eckern's donation began quickly spreading around the internet. Then Eckern began to draw criticism, according to the L.A. Times, "from some prominent stage artists, including Tony Award-winning composer Marc Shaiman ('Hairspray') and Jeff Whitty, the 'Avenue Q' librettist."
"I am disappointed that my personal convictions have cost me the opportunity to do what I love the most," Eckern said in a written statement. He said he hoped that his resignation would "help the healing in the local theatergoing and creative community." Eckern actually has a lesbian sister who is in a domestic partnership, but affirmed his right "to act upon my belief that the traditional definition of marriage should be preserved."
The left-wing loons that cost Eckern his job should be ashamed of themselves. This is inexcusable.

In December 2005, Sir Elton John had a civil partnership ceremony in Windsor, England. You may be surprised with Elton John's reaction to California's proposition 8. He says he does not see why gays need to be married and that to him civil partnerships seem adequate. "We're not married. Let's get that right. We have a civil partnership. What is wrong with Proposition 8 is that they went for marriage. Marriage is going to put a lot of people off, the word marriage," he said. John went on to say, "I don't want to be married. I'm very happy with a civil partnership. If gay people want to get married, or get together, they should have a civil partnership. The word marriage, I think, puts a lot of people off. You get the same equal rights that we do when we have a civil partnership. Heterosexual people get married. We can have civil partnerships."
Who would have known that you would get a dose of common sense on Prop 8 from the world's most famous homosexual?
