The AP reports: "There's no greater threat to Israel or to the peace and stability of the region than Iran," he told the powerful pro-Israel lobby, the American Israel Public Affairs Council (AIPAC). "The danger from Iran is grave and real and my goal will be to eliminate this threat," he said, adding loudly to add emphasis that he would "everything" to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. "The Iranian regime supports violent extremes. And challenges across the region. It pursues a nuclear capability that could spark a dangerous arms race," he told AIPAC's annual meeting in Washington.
This type of rhetoric is obviously approriate in a forum where Iran is viewed as the most serious threat to the Jewish State. But it does not fit the previous actions of Barack Obama as Senator. Not to mention his idiotic promises of meeting with Iran's leaders without preconditions. Obama supporters must please answer this question: If he really believed there was "no greater threat" than Iran and he aims to "eliminate that threat" then why did Obama oppose a resolution designating Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization? Playing to his far left primary base, he called the Kyl-Lieberman Amendment "sabber-rattling." Does that sound like someone who believes that Iran is the greatest threat? Even Senator Hillary Clinton voted for the Kyl-Lieberman amendment, joining 29 other Democrats and 47 Republicans as the Senate OK’d the non-binding statement. Senator Joe Lieberman, co-sponsor of the amendment with Senator John Kyl asked at the time: “How can you vote against a request that the administration impose economic sanctions on a group that the U.S. military has presented us ample evidence is a terrorist group killing American soldiers?”
