Originally organized as the Continental Marines on November 10, 1775, as naval infantry, the Marine Corps has evolved into the supreme fighting force in our military that it is today. The Marine Corps has served in every American armed conflict since the birth of our nation. As Veterans Day approaches, let us be thankful for the brave men who continue to serve our country in the Marine Corps, risking life and limb to defend America and protect liberty.
