Absolut Mexican Vodka Ad

What is the world coming to when Vodka is turning against you? The Los Angeles Times had a startling report about a new Absolut Vodka Ad. The LA times wrote that "the billboard and press campaign, created by advertising agency Teran\TBWA and now running in Mexico, is a colorful map depicting what the Americas might look like in an 'Absolut' -- i.e., perfect -- world. The U.S.-Mexico border lies where it was before the Mexican-American war of 1848 when California, as we now know it, was Mexican territory and known as Alta California." I hate to say it, but perhaps a boycott of Absolut would be in order.

First and foremost, I don't want political or social commentary to come along with my liquor or my liqour ads. How about something typical, about it's smooth taste. But beyond this, I absolutely (pun intended any time that word is used in this article) object to the Swedish Vodka company's depiction of our country as belonging to Mexico. Maybe they have never heard of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. After the 1848 Mexican American war the treaty provided for the Mexican Cession, in which Mexico ceded 525,000 square miles to the United States in exchange for $15 million. In an absolute world ads that are as idiotic and sickening as this would not run.

Furthermore, Favio Ucedo is the creative director of the leading Latino advertising agency Grupo Gallegos in the U.S. He said that “Mexicans talk about how the Americans stole their land, so this is their way of reclaiming it. It’s very relevant and the Mexicans will love the idea.” I don't care about what Mexicans talk about. Absolut should feel the reprecussions of this ad in America. They should not indulge Mexican fantasies of taking U.S. territory at the expense of offending Americans. Luckily these are grandiose delusions and nothing else. Though let us not forget about how Mexicans, who apparently hold this belief according to Uleco, are illegaly crossing our border into our territory every day. But then again, maybe we are inviting this type of ad by allowing our borders to be as open and porous as they are in the first place.

Moral of the story: Stop illegal immigration and drink Smirnoff.

Charlton Heston Dies At 84

The legendary actor Charlton Heston, Moses himself (from "The 10 Commandments"), died at age 84. He was also famous for his activism and work on behalf of the second amendment, the right to bear arms. He suffered from Alzhiemers in his later years. He may have forgotten his work, but we will not. Charlton Heston RIP.

Here is a trailer to The Ten Commandments:

McCain's Son Served In Iraq's Anbar Province

The New York Times had a story entitled "McCain Is Vocal on War, but Silent on Son’s Service."

The story states in part: "Mr. McCain, now the presumptive Republican nominee, has staked his candidacy on the promise that American troops can bring stability to Iraq. What he almost never says is that one of them is his own son, who spent seven months patrolling Anbar Province and learned of his father’s New Hampshire victory in January while he was digging a stuck military vehicle out of the mud. In his 71 years, Mr. McCain has confronted war as a pilot, a prisoner and a United States senator, but never before as a father. His son’s departure for Iraq brought him the same worry that every military parent feels, friends say, while the young marine’s experiences there have given him a sustained grunt’s-eye view of the action and private confirmation for his argument that United States strategy in Iraq is working. While Jimmy McCain’s service is a story all his own — he enlisted at age 17 — it illuminates the beliefs about duty, honor and sacrifice with which family friends say he was raised. Military ideals have defined Mr. McCain as a person and a politician, and he is placing them at the core of his presidential candidacy."

I am very surprised that this is the first time I have heard of this, and that McCain never mentions it. It's very interesting to me that McCain's own son has served in Iraq. I think it says a lot about John McCain that he has not used his son's service as fodder for his political campaign, like a typical politician may have. Especially when it is relevant because it destroys the argument that supporters of the war are not the ones whose boys are fighting it. We thank Jimmy McCain for his service and hope that his father be the future Commander and Chief. Pastor Michael Pfleger Responds To Wright Scandal

Pastor Michael Pfleger is on Barack Obama's endoresement page on his campaign website. The site says the "testimonials" from the likes of Pfleger are "endorsements from religious leaders" that "are extended in their personal capacity." Watch the clip and see this nutjob defend idiots like Wright and Farakhan:

Geraldine Ferraro: Fire Randi Rhodes

Randi Rhodes is a wackjob Air America radio host. She just went off the charts nuts over the Geraldine Ferraro comments that the Obama camp attacked her for. She happened to be saying what was truth, but what does truth have to do with anything in a Democrat primary. Ferraro, the former Democrat VP candidate under Walter Mondale, says that Rhodes should be fired:

McCain Late Show Appearance

Truthfully, McCain is not the greatest at delivering one liners, but you have to give him points for effort:

Hillary Steals A Reagan Joke Without Attribution

Watch as Hillary Clinton steals one of Ronald Reagan's jokes without attributing it to him. First, this is just the type of phoniness that this woman represents. She can't even come up with her own material. And remember, this is the same lady that was attacking Obama for saying some things about Reagan while she is secretly using Reagan's material. Secondly, and more importantly, watch the few seconds of Reagan telling the joke. Watch Hillary tell the joke. The Gipper knew how to tell a good story. She doesn't. She is no Great Communicator, that's for sure.

Obama Is An Extreme Liberal And A Liar

This is a montage that shows Barack Obama lying about Jeremiah Wright. I have told you about this in previous posts, but here it is on video in just over a minute. See some of the clips for yourself:

Obama has also attempted to portray himself as a moderate candidate who will bring about unity. He is attempting to decieve the American people by hiding his true far left record. He is not middle of the road, and he in no way represents a uniter. He would be the most liberal President in our history if he were to be elected. Politico.com has provided the evidence, not that we needed it. For 2007 Obama got 100 percent scores from the AFL-CIO, League of Conservation Voters and Planned Parenthood and an “A” rating from the National Education Association. His voting record clearly contradicts the image he is trying to paint. Politico reports the results of an an amended version of an Illinois voter group’s detailed questionnaire, filed under Obama's name during his first bid for elected office in 1996 when he ran for the Illinois State Senate. He amended his answers to the survery one day after having taken it. Last year Obama's aides lied and said his aides said he “never saw or approved” the original questionnaire and that the responses were filled out by a campaign aide who “unintentionally mischaracterize[d] his position.” But Politico did not take their word for it. They investigated the matter and found that "Obama was actually interviewed about the issues on the questionnaire by the liberal Chicago nonprofit group that issued it. And it found that Obama — the day after sitting for the interview — filed an amended version of the questionnaire, which appears to contain Obama’s own handwritten notes added to one answer." He consistently answered every question taking the liberal position. On some issues he had no idea what he even believed. On the question of whether minors should be required to get parental consent — or at least notify their parents — before having abortion, he answered first with a simple “No.” In the amended version he answers that it “depends on how young — possibly for extremely young teens, i.e., 12- or 13-year-olds.” One of the most disturbing answers, just to show you how liberal he really is, comes on the right to bear arms. This is how he answered in the amended version:

"Do you support state legislation to:

a. ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns? Yes.
b. ban assault weapons? Yes.
c. mandatory waiting periods and background checks? Yes."

In short, he is a raging liberal who is trying to cover up his true record and we should not allow him to get away with it. On this April Fool's Day, let us resolve to let Obama know that we are tired of being played for fools. See http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0308/9269.html for further details.

Karl Rove And His Retractable Horns

In a recent speech the former "architect" Karl Rove had some of those kooky anti-war protesters heckle him and hold some sign saying he is a war criminal. Never mind the obvious fact that he was on the political strategy side of the White House, not the war planning side. Either way, he laughes it off, takes it in stride. He discusses how the "Bush Lied" line is a falsehood propogated by the likes of Obama, and then answers a question as to why he is so demonized by the Left. His answer: The horns are retractable.

Joe Lieberman On Today's Democratic Party

One of the last few respectable Democrats left in our country today. Though, as we know, he is no longer officially a Democrat. He was forced to become an Independent candidate after losing his own party's primary. He explains how he could endorse someone like John McCain who happens to be a Republican. He says that the Democratic party of today is not the party he grew up in, nor is it the party in which he ran for the VP slot in 2000. He says that fringle element of th element has completely taken over that party. Joe Lieberman as McCain's VP? Not gonna happen, but it's interesting to think about the possibility and he is very close with McCain. Either way, Go Joe!

Michelle Obama: America Is Ignorant

Michelle Obama infamously declared that she is proud of her country for the first time in her adult life only because her husband is running for president. Above you see a comment that has gotten virtually no play in the media. She continues to outdo herself with her unpatriotic rhetoric. She says, "It's easier to hold on to your own stereotypes and misconceptions, it makes you feel justified in your own ignorance. That's America." Excuse me? Feeling justified in your ignorance is not what America is all about. To be frank, this woman seems to lack any patriotism. Couple this with her husband's refusal to wear a flag on his lapel and obviously his intimate association with the radical anti-American pastor Jeremiah Wright and we have reasonable doubt as to whether this duo belongs in the White House.
