L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa Compares Prop 8's Halting The Redefinition Of Marriage To Bans On Interracial Marriage



The following excerpt about the radical response of the "No On 8" supporters is from the Washington Post:

"The backlash against those who supported a ban on same-sex marriage continues to roil California and nearby states. Protests and vandalism of churches, boycotts of businesses and possibly related mailings of envelopes filled with white powder have followed the passage of Proposition 8, the ballot initiative to amend the state constitution to ban same-sex marriages. In Sacramento, a high-profile theater director resigned from his job of 25 years after a boycott threat over his $1,000 donation in support of the measure. In Los Angeles, a Mexican restaurant owner, a Mormon who donated $100, was reduced to tears and left town after hundreds of protesters confronted her at work, by phone and on the Internet. 'You express your beliefs and you have to be punished for it?' said Arnoldo Archila, an employee at the El Coyote restaurant. 'This is not right, not in this country. This is not Iraq.'" White Powder Sent To Mormom Temples In Los Angeles And Utah

The AP reports:

"Letters containing a suspicious white powder were sent Thursday to Mormon temples in Los Angeles and Salt Lake City that were the sites of protests against the church's support of California's gay marriage ban. The temple in the Westwood area of Los Angeles was evacuated before a hazardous materials crew determined the envelope's contents were not toxic, said FBI spokesman Jason Pack.

The temple in downtown Salt Lake City, where the church is based, received a similar envelope containing a white powder that spilled onto a clerk's hand. The room was decontaminated and the envelope taken by the FBI for testing. The clerk showed no signs of illness, but the scare shut down a building at Temple Square for more than an hour, said Scott Freitag, a spokesman for the Salt Lake City Fire Department."


Gay Marriage Activists Publish Online "Blacklist" Of Donors To Prop 8

An engineer who immigrated from China found his name on the online "blacklist" after he donated $1,000 to the "Yes on 8" campaign. He rightly said that "this sort of blacklist should only appear in communist countries, should not be found in the United States."

The girl decided to do an experiment in which she would wear an "Obama girl" t-shirt on one day and a "McCain girl" t-shirt on the next day and see the varying reaction of her fellow students. The reaction to the McCain shirt was not pretty. As she said, "I wasn't expecting them to, like, go as far as telling me to die."

"No On 8" Protest In Front Of NYC Mormon Temple

This protest took place on Wednesday night as thousands went to target the Mormon Temple in New York City with a protest. Apparently keeping the protests within California where the vote actually took place was not enough.

Allow me to provide you with a little thought experiment. Imagine for a moment that Prop 8 had not passed. What would be the reaction from those who supported it? I do not think people would be protesting across the nation. But let us take a moment to imagine that there would have been protests. Imagine what would happen if some pastor led a protest and blocked traffic on a major Los Angeles street in response to Prop 8 failing? Imagine if gay institutions were being targeted for protests by large groups of Christians and others who supported Prop 8? Suffice it to say I think the reaction from government on on all levels and the media would be very different.


%70 of blacks in California voted in favor of Prop 8. I wonder when the protests against inner city black churches are going to take place?

The logic that these sore losers give for targeting Mormom churches with protests is that Mormons had a large role in bankrolling the "Yes On 8" campaign. Apparently Mormons do not have the right to donate to a legitimate political campaign that they are passionate about. That is because the people who helped the "No On 8 Campaign" raise millions of dollars are open-minded progressives fighting for equality, while those dastardly Mormons that helped the "Yes on 8" campaign are narrow-minded hateful bigots. Let us be honest. I think the Mormons are a pretty easy target and that has something to do with why their churches are the target of these protests. I do not think targeting Mormons for protest is going to ruffle that many feathers. It does not take all that much courage to gather in front of a Mormon church in New York or Los Angeles and yell mindless slogans and chants.

In case you missed it, earlier this week there was a protest in Palm Springs, California. An old lady decided to walk right by the crowd with a styrofoam cross. It did not take long before it was violently pulled out of her hand and trampled by the crowd:

City Of Golden, Colorado Considers Banning All Religous Symbols From City Property After Rabbi Asks To Display Menorah Near Christmas Tree

A Rabbi asked the City of Golden if he could put up a menorah near the Christmas tree and the reaction of the city is to consider banning all religous symbols. The City of Golden claims that they do not want to have any religous symbols such as the menorah on city property. City of Golen spokesman Jonathan Ashford said that "the goal here is to set guidelines. The city has had a history of having a display downtown that didn't include any kind of specific religious message or theme. We've tried to keep it neutral, very open, very inclusive." The irony of banning a Jewish holiday symbol in the name of being "inclusive" and "very open" does not seem to dawn on Ashford.

How do they explain away a Christmas tree which they have no intention of getting rid of? After all, that is the symbol of the Christian holiday of Christmas. Don't be ridiculous, says the city, it's a "Holiday Tree." And what holiday would that be again?

I have a suggestion for the city. They should simply allow the Rabbi to put up his "Holiday Candelabra" next to the "Holiday Tree." Problem solved.

The first amendment is about freedom of religion, not freedom from religion. The secular-left crusade to ban any and all religous symbols marches on. A holiday tree? Are you kidding me? The first amendment was not meant to ban religion from the public square, it was meant to protect the freedom of worship. It was not meant to banish Christmas or Hanukah. The City of Golden should not be falling for this ACLU nonsense.

John Adams said, "Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." In 1796 George Washington said, "Reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle." I dare say that if these guys were running the City of Golden things would be different.

Director Of Sacramento's "California Musical Theater" Resigns After His Donation To The "Yes On Prop 8" Campaign


The Prop 8 fallout continues.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Theater Director Scott Eckern's donation in support of California's Prop. 8 defining marriage as between one man and one woman "turned into a lightning rod in the debate over gay rights." The L.A. Times says that Eckern resigned Wednesday claiming he wanted to protect the California Musical Theatre from controversy. The Theatre has been Eckern's "artistic home since 1984," says the Times. He has also been the nonprofit stage company's artistic director since 2003. Eckern's $1,000 donation had to be publicly reported under California election law. After this took place, the news of Eckern's donation began quickly spreading around the internet. Then Eckern began to draw criticism, according to the L.A. Times, "from some prominent stage artists, including Tony Award-winning composer Marc Shaiman ('Hairspray') and Jeff Whitty, the 'Avenue Q' librettist."

"I am disappointed that my personal convictions have cost me the opportunity to do what I love the most," Eckern said in a written statement. He said he hoped that his resignation would "help the healing in the local theatergoing and creative community." Eckern actually has a lesbian sister who is in a domestic partnership, but affirmed his right "to act upon my belief that the traditional definition of marriage should be preserved."

The left-wing loons that cost Eckern his job should be ashamed of themselves. This is inexcusable.

In December 2005, Sir Elton John had a civil partnership ceremony in Windsor, England. You may be surprised with Elton John's reaction to California's proposition 8. He says he does not see why gays need to be married and that to him civil partnerships seem adequate. "We're not married. Let's get that right. We have a civil partnership. What is wrong with Proposition 8 is that they went for marriage. Marriage is going to put a lot of people off, the word marriage," he said. John went on to say, "I don't want to be married. I'm very happy with a civil partnership. If gay people want to get married, or get together, they should have a civil partnership. The word marriage, I think, puts a lot of people off. You get the same equal rights that we do when we have a civil partnership. Heterosexual people get married. We can have civil partnerships."

Who would have known that you would get a dose of common sense on Prop 8 from the world's most famous homosexual?

Happy Veterans Day!

Happy Veterans Day to all of America's heroes that continue to keep our nation free and secure through their service. We should all be grateful to all that have or continue to serve in our armed forces. On this day let us recognize that our veterans are the finest Americans this country has to offer. Freedom is not free, and it is the American soldier that is willing to bear the burden and pay the ultimate price on behalf of this country. We are especially thankful for all those that have sacrificed life and limb to defend America. The American soldier has been a foot soldier on the front lines in the battles against some of this world's greatest evils such as Nazism, Communism, and Jihadism. Let us take this opportunity to show our appreciation for everything our soldiers have done on our behalf.

Iran Test Fires

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran has test-fired a new type of missile during war games near the Iraqi border, state television said Tuesday, after warning the United States it would respond to any violation of Iranian airspace.

The English-language Press TV said the Iranian-made missile, named as the Samen, was successfully tested Monday by the elite Revolutionary Guards in the western border city of Marivan.


I don't see how meeting with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would send the right message to Iran or be an effective response to the growing Iranian threat. Yet this is precisely what Obama said he would consider doing while he ran for President. We can't possibly reward Iran for test firing missiles by holding such high-level meetings. It will be very important to see what President-Elect Obama does with the Iranian situation when he becomes President.

Ignorant Newsweek Lies About Palin

Newsweek reports that "the day of the third debate, Palin refused to go onstage with New Hampshire GOP Sen. John Sununu and Jeb Bradley, a New Hampshire congressman running for the Senate, because they were pro-choice and because Bradley opposed drilling in Alaska. The McCain campaign ordered her onstage at the next campaign stop, but she refused to acknowledge the two Republican candidates standing behind her." Oh, really?

First, John Sununu has %100 percent pro-life rating from the National Right to Life Committee. Second, Jeb Bradley was not running for the U.S. Senate, he was running to represent NH's First District in the House of Representatives. Third, it is inconcievable that she would refuse to share a stage with someone who opposed drilling in Alaska when John McCain opposed drilling in Alaska. Fourth, Sarah Palin has no problems sharing the stage with someone who is pro-choice.


So next time you're on line at the grocery store deciding whether to buy the National Enquirer or Newsweek, go with the Enquirer. At least they got their facts straight about John Edwards.

It Is Time For Republicans To Represent "A Choice, Not An Echo"

President Bush certainly has taken the protection of America seriously. This should be the first priority of any Commander in Chief. Bush rarely gets credit, but he deserves much for there not being a terrorist attack against America since 9-11 and for taking the fight to the enemy. If you had told people after 9-11 that we would not be attacked for the next seven years, there would have been disbelief. Bush has focused on giving our law enforcement the tools they need to fight this enemy and stop them before they strike. The Democrats have opposed him every step of the way, putting politics ahead of national security.

It is an unfortunate truth, however, that the Republican party has abandoned its own principles on many domestic issues surrounding limited government. The largest expansion of government since LBJ's great society came with the prescription drug benefit for seniors passed by a Republican President and Congress (McCain voted against it, by the way). But the Republicans were not rewarded for being the "Democrat-lite" party. The Republicans have lost the White House, the House, and the Senate. Now is the time to send the message that the party must return to its ideals. To provide the American people with a true contrast, a real representation between the competing political ideologies in our society today. Now is the opportunity for conservatism to make a comeback in the Republican party and provide that choice. Now is the time to return to the principles that have made America great, the principles of individualism, limited government, personal responsibility, and peace through strength.

The Democrat victory of 2008 should give all Republicans an opportunity to look back and learn from Barry Goldwater's announcement of his candidacy in 1964. I think his words should give everyone a sense of the message today's Republicans should be sending to America.

"One of the great attributes of our American two party system has always been the reflected differences in principle. As a general rule one party has emphasized individual liberty and the other has favored the extension of government power. I’m convinced that today a majority in the Republican Party believes in the essential emphasis on individual liberty...
I was once asked what kind of Republican I was. I replied that I was not a 'me-too' Republican. That still holds. I will not change my beliefs to win votes. I will offer a choice, not an echo. This will not be an engagement of personalities. It will be in engagement of principles.
I’ve always stood for government that is limited and balanced and against the ever increasing concentrations of authority in Washington. I’ve always stood for individual responsibility and against regimentation. I believe we must now make a choice in this land and not continue drifting endlessly down and down for a time when all of us, our lives, our property, our hopes, and even our prayers will become just cogs in a vast government machine.
I believe that we can win victory for freedom both at home and abroad. I believe that we can be strong enough and determined enough to win those victories without war. I believe that appeasement and weakness can only bring war. I’ve asked and will continue to ask: Why Not Victory–why not victory for sound, constitutional principles and government–why not victory over the evils of communism?"

Substitute communism with today's evils, such as radical jihadism, and not one other word need change. It is now our chance to work from within to make sure that this remains the message of today's Republican party. There is no need for two liberal parties, one liberal party is more than enough.
