Newsday reports that "Samantha Power, who earned notoriety for calling Hillary Rodham Clinton a 'monster' while working to elect Barack Obama president, will take a senior foreign policy job at the White House, The Associated Press has learned. Officials say Obama has tapped Power to be senior director for multilateral affairs at the National Security Council, a job that will require close contact and potential travel with Clinton, who is now secretary of state."
What should have been the disqualifier during the campaign is the fact that Power is vicously anti-Israel. Samantha Power left the Obama campaign in March 2008 after referring to Hillary Clinton as a "monster." She had been an Obama foreign policy since 2005. She made the remarks seen below before she ever became an Obama campaign advisor and it is inexcusable that Obama would have her on his campaign team given the comments on Israel she had made just seven months after 9-11. It is even more inexcusable that Obama has now welcomed her back into the fold, this time putting her in a senior foreign policy position in our government.
The following interview with Samantha Power took place at Berkeley in 2002. In the clip below she engages in a "thought experiment" about Israel committing "genocide" against the Palestinians. She chuckles as she says that there needs to be a willingness to alienate "a domestic constituency of tremendous political and financial import." I wonder who she could possibly be talking about? Oh, I know, those Jews. She talks about "investing...literally billions of dollars...in the new state of Palestine." Power comments on the "major human rights abuses" against Palestinians. She further declares that there will have to be a "mammoth protection force...a meaningful military presence" put in place by Americans because there has to be "an imposition of a solution upon unwilling parties." This is the very same wackjob that is going to be the future senior director for multilateral affairs at the National Security Council. Unbelievable.
