Harry Reid Calls Town Hall Health Care Protesters "Evil-Mongers"

Harry Reid has said in the closing speech of his annual clean energy conference that health care protesters at town hall events were “evil-mongers.” He said that they were disrupting the town halls with “lies, innuendo and rumor."

He later tried toning down his rhetoric by saying that the phrase "evil-mongers" was “an original with me. I maybe could have been less descriptive.” He also said, “I doubt that you’ll hear it from me again.” But a few minutes later, he could not stop himself. “I feel I haven’t done anything to embarrass them,” Reid said of his children. “Except maybe call somebody an evil-monger.” Tweet
