The Jerusalem Post reports that "Iran's attempt to smuggle hundreds of tons of weapons to Hizbullah is a 'war crime,' Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said on Thursday, adding that the UN would do better to investigate the evident arms flow to Syria and south Lebanon from Iran instead of holding its scheduled discussion on the Goldstone Report."
"The ship was loaded with a huge quantity of weapons meant to reach Hizbullah. The purpose of the missiles was to kill as many civilians as possible. This is a war crime that the Iranian government planned to allow Hizbullah to execute, after [Hizbullah] has already fired thousands of rockets against our communities," Netanyahu said.
"It's a war crime on which the UN Security Council should have held an emergency special session, especially since we are talking about blatant violations of Security Council resolutions. This is a crime that the Iranian regime intends to repeat.
"This is what the international community should be concentrating on every day and on this day in particular. Instead, it has chosen to convene to condemn the IDF and the State of Israel and to undermine our legitimate right to self defense," Netanyahu said, referring to the discussion currently taking place on the Goldstone Report, which, he added "won't deter us."
"It won't prevent us from defending our citizens," the prime minister continued, "because Israeli citizens know the truth, that the IDF is a moral army. We know that what stands between war criminals and war crimes directed against Israeli citizens is the IDF and the Israeli security forces."
