Iran Views Obama's Offers To Talk As Weakness

Obama declared in his Al-Arabiya interview, picking up on his campaign promise, that he wants to open up communication with Iran. He said that he is willing to open up diplomatic channels with Iran but that Iran should "unclench its fist." Suffice it to say that the response from Iran was a clenched fist. The lesson being drawn by Iran from Obama's pandering to the Islamic world is that the West is weak and faltering.

The AP reports that "US President Barack Obama's offer to talk to Iran shows that America's policy of 'domination' has failed, the government spokesman said on Saturday. 'This request means Western ideology has become passive, that capitalist thought and the system of domination have failed,' Gholam Hossein Elham was quoted as saying by the Mehr news agency. 'Negotiation is secondary, the main issue is that there is no way but for (the United States) to change,' he added." Further, "in response, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad launched a fresh tirade against the United States, demanding an apology for its 'crimes' against Iran and saying he expected 'deep and fundamental' change from Obama."

Benjamin Netanyahu: Iran "Will Not Be Armed With A Nuclear Weapon."

Bibi Netanyahu is the current opposition leader and head of the Likud party. He is currently the leading candidate in the Israeli election for Prime Minister scheduled for February 10. The AP reports that "Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel's leading candidate for prime minister, said Saturday that Iran 'will not be armed with a nuclear weapon.' In an interview with Israel's Channel 2 TV, Netanyahu said if elected prime minister his first mission will be to thwart the Iranian nuclear threat.... When asked if stopping Iran's nuclear ambitions included a military strike, he replied: 'It includes everything that is necessary to make this statement come true.'"

If Netanyahu is serious about taking out Iran's nuclear facility, I hope that America will support him. If Obama does not support Netanyahu making any move against Iran, I hope Netanyahu ignores him and does what is in the best interest of defending Israel.

Israel's ambassador to Australia seemed to slip up recently and seemingly implied that an attack on Iran is coming within the next month, after which he immediately asked that media cameras be turned off. Bibi might be serious about this after all.

Benjamin Netanyahu has also vowed that he will not divide Jerusalem. Bibi said that "we did not return to Jerusalem after praying for it to be rebuilt for 2000 years in order to give it up. We did not unite the city in order to divide it, and my government will maintain a united Jerusalem. A sane country does not give its capital to its enemies."

Cabinet Nominee Tom Daschle Also A Tax Cheat

First tax evader Timothy Geithner, now tax evader Tom Daschle. Being in the Obama cabinet seems to be the fast track for tax cheats. I guess this is what some would call "Hope and Change."

Anti-Israel Samantha Power Will Take Senior Foreign Policy Job At White House

Newsday reports that "Samantha Power, who earned notoriety for calling Hillary Rodham Clinton a 'monster' while working to elect Barack Obama president, will take a senior foreign policy job at the White House, The Associated Press has learned. Officials say Obama has tapped Power to be senior director for multilateral affairs at the National Security Council, a job that will require close contact and potential travel with Clinton, who is now secretary of state."

What should have been the disqualifier during the campaign is the fact that Power is vicously anti-Israel. Samantha Power left the Obama campaign in March 2008 after referring to Hillary Clinton as a "monster." She had been an Obama foreign policy since 2005. She made the remarks seen below before she ever became an Obama campaign advisor and it is inexcusable that Obama would have her on his campaign team given the comments on Israel she had made just seven months after 9-11. It is even more inexcusable that Obama has now welcomed her back into the fold, this time putting her in a senior foreign policy position in our government.

The following interview with Samantha Power took place at Berkeley in 2002. In the clip below she engages in a "thought experiment" about Israel committing "genocide" against the Palestinians. She chuckles as she says that there needs to be a willingness to alienate "a domestic constituency of tremendous political and financial import." I wonder who she could possibly be talking about? Oh, I know, those Jews. She talks about "investing...literally billions of dollars...in the new state of Palestine." Power comments on the "major human rights abuses" against Palestinians. She further declares that there will have to be a "mammoth protection force...a meaningful military presence" put in place by Americans because there has to be "an imposition of a solution upon unwilling parties." This is the very same wackjob that is going to be the future senior director for multilateral affairs at the National Security Council. Unbelievable.

FBI: Gangs Continue To Grow And Are Responsible For Up To 80% Of U.S. Crime

USA Today reports that according to a gang threat assessment compiled by federal officials criminal gangs in the USA have swelled to an estimated 1 million members responsible for up to 80% of crimes in communities across the nation. The report by the Justice Department's National Gang Intelligence Center concludes gangs are the "primary retail-level distributors of most illicit drugs" and several are "capable" of competing with major U.S.-based Mexican drug-trafficking organizations. Furthermore, the gang population estimate is up 200,000 since 2005. The report says about 900,000 gang members live "within local communities across the country," and about 147,000 are in U.S. prisons or jails.

USA Today further reports that "one group that continues to spread despite law enforcement efforts is the violent Salvadoran gang known as MS-13. Michael Sullivan, the departing director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, says the gang's dependence on shocking violence to advance extortion, prostitution and other criminal enterprises has frustrated attempts to infiltrate and disrupt the insular group's activities." Sullivan says that "MS-13's foothold in the U.S. is expanding" and that the street gang is in 42 states, up from 33 in 2005. "Enforcement efforts have been effective to a certain extent, but they (gang members) keep moving," he says.

CNN's Campbell Brown: Obama Displaying "Hypocrisy" On Hiring Lobbyists

Another example of hypocrisy. The New York Times reports that Obama was photographed in the Oval Office without his suit jacket. An interesting side note is that Obama's lack of a jacket departs from a rule of the George W. Bush administration that a coat and tie must be worn in the Oval Office at all times. Obama senior advisor David Axelrod commented on the photo of Obama without his jacket saying Obama's "from Hawaii, O.K.? He likes it warm. You could grow orchids in there.” Was it not Obama that was preaching to the American people during the campaign about keeping their thermostats on and wasting energy? Then again, maybe Obama actually is growing orchids in the Oval Office.

Every House Republican Votes Against Obama's "Stimulus" Bill

Obama's bill made it through the House of Representatives. But House Republicans stood united on principle today with all 177 of the Republican members of the House voting nay on Obama's pork-ridden "stimulus" package. House Republicans have made sure that it is the Democrats that completely own this extravagant government taxpayer funded spending spree.

Below you can watch some MSNBC whiners complaining about Republican lack of "partisanship." But to a liberal, "partisanship" is any time Republicans decide to not capitulate to the liberal agenda, and "bipartisanship" is when Republicans decide to give in. I do not make these statements without any evidence, and I shall bring one recent proof. Politico reported that "during a morning meeting with congressional leaders from both parties, President Obama acknowledged the philosophical differences between his stimulus package and the Republican plan – but, sources familiar with the conversation said, Obama then noted: 'I won.'" Did anyone hear cries from the media about the lack of bipartisanship on the part of Obama? Obama is right that he can reject Republican input if he so chooses because he did win the election. But it is important to point out that Republican solidarity in opposition to Obama's spending is "bipartisanship" in the eyes of the media, while Obama's opposition to any elements in the Republican plan is considered nothing of the sort.

I believe the Republican Party should be setting itself apart from the Democrat big government agenda in a unified voice and that this is a good first step by House Republicans.

If you really want to understand some of what is wrong this pork package that has the chief objective not of stimulating the economy but of stimulating government growth, read the following editorial in the Wall Street Journal: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123310466514522309.html

Obama Chooses Al-Arabiya For First Interview As President And Panders To The Arab World

President Obama decided to give his first interview as President to the Dubai-based Al-Arabiya. He took this as an opportunity to pander to the Arab world and to give nothing more than propaganda fodder to the enemy. His rhetoric on Israel is more than disturbing and his naivete is extremely worrisome. I shall not analyze the interview in its entirety, but I shall provide analysis of some key quotes from this interview that should interest all those concerned about the future or curious about the course Obama intends to take.

In the interview Obama says that he told his new envoy to the Middle East, George Mitchell, to "start by listening, because all too often the United States starts by dictating -- in the past on some of these issues -- and we don't always know all the factors that are involved." How nice of Obama to paint America as a world bully in our fight against Islamoterrorism and support for Israel. Perhaps George Mitchell should listen to the words of Hamas's leaders as they continue to openly declare their genocidal intention to destroy the Jewish State. Perhaps he could listen to the words of Hamas's charter which declares that "Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it." For some reason I do not think this is the type of listening that Obama had in mind.

Obama goes on to say that "I do believe that the moment is ripe for both sides [Israelis and Palestinians] to realize that the path that they are on is one that is not going to result in prosperity and security for their people." What Obama seems not realize, in his supreme naivete, is that the goal of the Palestinian Islamoterrorist is not "prosperity and security," but the annihilation of Israel. This painting of a moral equivalence between the Israelis and Palestinians is nothing short of disgusting.

The President describes the Saudi-proposed peace plan for the Israel-Palestinian conflict saying "it took great courage to put forward something that is as significant as that. I think that there are ideas across the region of how we might pursue peace." One of the elements of the the Saudi plan is the full "right of return" of all Palestinian "refugees" to Israel. Israel Government spokesperson Avi Pazner has explained that Israel "cannot afford any return of Palestinians refugees to Israel because this would alter the demographic balance that there is now and create, in effect, another Palestinian state." This plan took no "courage" from Saudi Arabia and is certainly not "significant," as it is a plan that would effectively eliminate Israel as a Jewish State.

The Arab world was also told by Obama that "I do think that it is impossible for us to think only in terms of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and not think in terms of what's happening with Syria or Iran or Lebanon or Afghanistan and Pakistan. These things are interrelated." What's happening is indeed interrelated by the reach of the ideology of jihad across the Middle East. This, unfortunately, is not what Obama means. Instead, Obama immediately explains his comment by saying that "what I've said, and I think Hillary Clinton has expressed this in her confirmation, is that if we are looking at the region as a whole and communicating a message to the Arab world and the Muslim world, that we are ready to initiate a new partnership based on mutual respect and mutual interest, then I think that we can make significant progress." Apparently he thinks they are all interrelated by a lack of "respect" on the American side. I personally think there should be no respect for jihadist organizations such as Hamas, Hezbollah or Al-Qaeada or those who sponsor and support them.

"I will continue to believe that Israel's security is paramount. But I also believe that there are Israelis who recognize that it is important to achieve peace. They will be willing to make sacrifices if the time is appropriate and if there is serious partnership on the other side," Obama says. He is already announcing his plans to dictate to Israel that they "will be willing to make sacrifices." Israel has already made enough sacrifices and has gotten no peace in return. The withdrawal of all settlements and soldiers from Gaza has proven that. What happened to the Obama that moments earlier said America should "start by listening, because all too often the United States starts by dictating"? I guess that only applies to Arab dictatorships and not our ally Israel which he would rather force into further dangerous concessions.

He further states that he thinks "it is possible for us to see a Palestinian state...that is contiguous." It is not possible, unless the plan is for Israel to be bisected. Look at a map!

Obama further blames America while on Al-Arabiya saying his "job to the Muslim world is to communicate that the Americans are not your enemy. We sometimes make mistakes. We have not been perfect. But if you look at the track record, as you say, America was not born as a colonial power, and that the same respect and partnership that America had with the Muslim world as recently as 20 or 30 years ago, there's no reason why we can't restore that. And that I think is going to be an important task." It is not Obama's job to "communicate" to Arabs about how America makes "mistakes." Communicating that America is to blame will not bring an end to the jihad. Further, what "respect and partnership" as recently as 20 or 30 years ago is Obama talking about? Perhaps Obama longs for the good old days of the Arab oil embargo against the United States. As recently as 30 years ago the Iranian Islamic revolution took place and Americans were taken hostage by radical Islamists in Teheran for 444 days. In 1983 Hezbollah bombed U.S. Marines in Lebanon killing 241 Americans. Jihadists attacked the World Trade Center in 1993, the Khobar Tower in Saudi Arabia in 1996, two U.S. embassies in 1998, the USS Cole in 2000, and more, before George W. Bush ever launched any wars after the Islamoterrorist attack of September 2001. Does Obama want to restore the glory days leading up to 9-11?

Obama also says it "is important for us to be willing to talk to Iran, to express very clearly where our differences are, but where there are potential avenues for progress. And we will over the next several months be laying out our general framework and approach." Maybe Mahmoud Ahmadenijad and Barack Obama could sit down and debate whether the Holocaust ever happened, whether Israel has the right to exist, or whether Iran should really be funding and arming Islamoterrorist organizations around the Middle East and the world.

Obama did nothing but pander to the Arab world and provide propaganda for the enemy in his first interview as president. His words on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict are frightening. His weak rhetoric and naivete only emboldens the Islamoterrorist foe and endangers America and her allies.

Senator Susan Collins: “I Simply Can’t In Good Conscience Vote For Mr. Geithner"

All politicians in Washington, especially Republicans in our Senate, should be standing on the principles mentioned in this interview by Susan Collins. Susan Collins is a Republican from Maine, not from Texas. She is a "centrist" Republican, and even she is standing on a principle that should be above the partisan divide of Democrat and Republican. That principle is that at least the same standards that apply to the average taxpayer should apply to a nominee for Treasury Secretary, if not a higher one, and that a tax evader does not belong in the highest levels of government.

However, most our Senators do not stand on common sense principles. The Senate confirmed New York Fed chief Timothy Geithner to be Secretary of the Treasury by a 60-34 vote.

Bob Woodward also dropped some "tantalizing, but vague" hints of more to come saying that he does "not think the nanny and household tax problems, and so forth, are over for the Obama administration."

Jimmy Carter Continues To Spew His Nonsense On Israel

Blago Defends Himself On The View And Joy Behar Plays With His Hair

Pope Reinstates Holocaust Denying Bishop

The London Times reports that "Pope Benedict XVI’s rehabilitatation of a British bishop who denies that millions of Jews died in Nazi gas chambers has alarmed Catholics who fear it risks dealing a fatal blow to the inter-faith dialogue promoted by his predecessor." The Bishop Richard Williamson was ex-communicated in 1998 by Pope John Paul after an unauthorized consecration by the group known as the Society of Saint Pius X, lead by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre. That the current Pope would reinstate this Bishop is shameful. This Bishop is a Jew-hater of the ugliest sort, and for a Church with a long and bloody history of anti-Semitism, removal of ex-communication is ignorant. This move by a man that many people call "the Holy See" is an utter display of reckless unholiness and moral blindness. This is a Bishop that should be condemned by the Pope and given no religious legitimacy. He is certainly not someone deserving of "rehabilitation."

Given the fact that the current Pope is a former member of the Hitler Youth, regardless of whether it was by his own free will or not, one might have thought he would be a little more cautious in making any moves that would even appear anti-Semitic. Yet he reinstated Bishop Williamson who was interviewed in November, and that interview aired just last Wednesday on Swedish Telivision. Williamson agreed with the "most serious" Holocaust revisionists who he says have concluded that "between 200,000-300,000 perished in Nazi concentration camps, but not one of them by gassing in a gas chamber." He said, "I believe that the historical evidence is hugely against 6 million Jews having been deliberately gassed in gas chambers as a deliberate policy of Adolf Hitler. I believe there were no gas chambers." He seems like he would have been the perfect speaker and participant in Mahmoud Ahmadenijad's Holocaust deniers conference.

The Wiesenthal Centre, an international Jewish human rights body, said: "The Pope's decision to welcome back such a hater into the Church lends moral credence to deniers of history's worst crime. In addition to Bishop Williamson's Holocaust denial looms the unchanging virulent anti-Semitism of the Society of Saint Pius as a whole."

The AFP also reports that "uneasy relations between the Vatican and Israel have been further strained by plans to declare Nazi-era Pope Pius XII a saint" despite criticism of his inaction during the Holocaust.
