Michael Phelps Needs To Stop Apologizing For Smoking Weed
I do not smoke pot myself, but this is getting ridiculous. Michael Phelps needs to stop apologizing for smoking some weed and stop pretending like he is regretful. He did nothing wrong, and it is his own personal business if he smoked some marijuana at a party. Who cares? Marijuana should be legalized once and for all, there is no reason the government should be supporting the biggest drug cartels by creating an underground black market for weed that only the largest criminal cartels can afford to partake in. The damage that occasional weed smoking causes is obviously devastating, you will merely be able to go on and become a record-breaking Olympic gold medalist. Marijuana is no more damaging than alcohol, in fact it is in many ways less damaging. It is not potheads but rather many drunks that have a propensity toward violence. Many violent crimes involve alcoholically intoxicated parties. We need to get past this ridiculous obsession with marijuana and do away with a prohibition which only serves to waste taxpayer money and fill up our already crowded jails. The prohibition on marijuana does not stop people from easily buying and smoking it if they so choose anyway. It only serves to criminalize an activity that is in no way any more dangerous than alcohol.
If you don't like that Phelps smoked some pot then crack open a beer, it'll help take the edge off.
The following is the late great Milton Friedman on why drugs should be legalized. He goes farther than I would, supporting the legalization of all drugs and not just marijauna. When Milton Friedman made an argument he was always worth listening to:

House Appropriations Committee Chair on "Stimulus" Pork: "So What? This Is An Emergency..."
A trillion dollar spending bill that is filled with pork. Nothing could more clearly demonstrate the Democrat disrespect for taxpayer money than the response, "so what."

Tax Problems Continue: Obama's Nominee For Labor Secretary
The USA Today reports on nominee for Labor Secretary Hilda Solis. Compared to Geithner or Daschle this seems like no big deal, but when pattern developes it is certainly worth reporting:
"The husband of President Obama’s Labor secretary nominee paid about $6,400 Wednesday to settle tax liens that had been outstanding for as long as 16 years against his business, the Obama administration told USA TODAY this afternon...Los Angeles County records showed 15 outstanding state and county tax liens against Sam Sayyad and his auto repair business, totaling $7,630. Two other liens worth $981 were released in 1999 after Sayyad repaid the taxes owed, according to county records."

Senator "Censor" Stabenow: "It’s Absolutely Time To Pass A Standard...Whether It’s Called The Fairness Standard" Or Something Else
Democrat Senator from Michigan Debbi Stabenow says that the time has come to reintroduce the fairness doctrine to stifle conservative talk radio. This is nothing more than liberal censorhip of the opposition.
This is the same Senator that happens to be married to a whoremonger radio executive named Tom Athans. Athans is the co-founder and former CEO of the "liberal-progressive" Democracy Radio. He was executive vice president of Air America, which filed for bankruptcy in 2006. In early 2006, Athans left Air America Radio, which emerged from bankruptcy in 2007. Athans now heads TalkUSA Radio, based in Washington, D.C. He was also caught in a police sting aimed at catching prostitutes. It is this man's wife of all people that has the chutzpah to push for conservative radio to be shut down.

Senator Lindsay Graham: "Scaring People Is Not Leadership...If This Is Bipartisanship, Count Me Out...This Process Stinks"
Lindsay Graham also had an exchange with Senator Barbara Boxer. Graham told her that "if this is the new way of doing business, if this is the change we all can believe in, America's best days are behind her."

Jim Cramer Says Obama Sounds A Lot Like Lenin
Jim Cramer compares Barack Obama to Vladimir Lenin when Obama said that it is not the time for "profits." Lenin was the principal leader of Russia's Communist "October Revolution" and the first head of the Soviet Union. His contributions to Marxist Communism are commonly known as Leninism.
Here is the Obama remark that Jim Cramer refers to:

Nancy Pelosi: Every Month Stimulus Doesn’t Pass "500 Million Americans Lose Their Jobs"
It's no wonder the Democrats are willing to spend a trillion dollars as if it was a pittance. Apparently they are not very good with numbers. The Democrats can't even use scare tactics without making absolutely no sense.

Obama: "I Screwed Up" When It Comes To Daschle
Indeed there have been a number of mistakes and screw ups already that go well beyond the nomination of tax evading Tom Daschle, and Obama has only been president for two weeks. To name a few, the first phone call to a foriegn leader going to Mahmoud Abbas was a mistake. The gargantuan special interest free-for-all porkulus spending spree is a screw up. The pandering to the Arab world on Al-Arabiya was a mistake. Obama telling Iran that he would like to open diplomatic channels if Iran should "unclench its fist" and the Iranian response being to unclench one finger just goes to show how much of a screw up that Al-Arabiya interview actually was. His appointment of tax cheat Tim Geithner to Treasury was a screw up. His getting rid of the Mexico City Policy was a screw up. His ordering Gitmo closed within one year without offering even a hint of an explanation at what he intends to do with the prisoners is a mistake. His appointment of viciously anti-Israel Samantha Power to a top foreign policy job at the White House is a screw up. Obama's breaking his own announced rules from his first day in office to not hire lobbyists by allowing Tim Geithner to hire former Goldman Sachs lobbyist Mark Patterson as his chief of staff is a screw up. His nominee for Chief Performance Officer having to withdraw because of tax problem is a screw up. Bill Richardson withdrawing his nomination for Commerce Secretary because of a federal pay-for-play investigation is a screw up. Be prepared, because there is another four years of mistakes and screw ups ahead of us.
Here is the money quote from Obama: “I don’t want to send a message to the American people that there are two sets of standards, one for powerful people and one for ordinary folks who are working every day and paying their taxes.” Too late for that, message sent. Obama seems to think that Daschle is the only "mistake" that he has made, when it was one of many and arguably a lesser mistake than many others. But he did not force Daschle out anyway, Daschle only left after outrage continued to rise. Further, the Obama administration claims that they did not ask Daschle to withdraw his nomination but that Daschle withdrew all on his own.
Obama has already clearly sent the message that there are "two sets of standards" as he pushed a man that was exposed as a tax evader through the Senate to become our Secretary of Treasury. Apparently you can slide one tax evader by the Senate, but try two and that becomes outrageous!
Anybody that was stupid enough to fall for Obama's "hope and change" nonsense should feel like an idiot right about now.
Watch Obama Press Secretary Robert Gibbs make a fool out of himself by making the laughable assertion that the administration has the strongest ethics and accountability rules of any in U.S. history.

Sheikh Yousuf Al-Qaradhawi: The Holocaust Was "Divine Punishment" And "Allah Willing, The Next Time Will Be At The Hand Of The Believers"
A speech by Sunni Islamic scholar Sheik Yousuf Al-Qaradhawi aired on Al-Jazeera TV on January 28 and 30, 2009. In it he says that "throughout history, Allah has imposed upon the [Jews] people who would punish them for their corruption. The last punishment was carried out by Hitler. By means of all the things he did to them – even though they exaggerated this issue – he managed to put them in their place. This was divine punishment for them. Allah willing, the next time will be at the hand of the believers."

As Attacks Continue, Israel Threatens "Harsh and Disproportionate" Retaliation
At least two rockets launched from Gaza struck the south region of Israel on Sunday morning. A wing of al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, a group belonging to none other than Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah, claimed responsibility. Let me remind you that this is the same Mahmoud Abbas that was the first foreign figure that was telephoned by President Obama upon becoming America's leader.
Since Israel declared the Jan. 18 cease fire just before the Obama inauguration, sporadic attacks on Israel have continued. In the most serious incident since the truce, an Israeli soldier was killed and three fellow soldiers were wounded in a blast near the Kissufim border crossing last Tuesday. Israel responded with air raids and a brief ground incursion by soldiers and tanks.
"We won't return to the rules of the game that terror groups have tried to dictate and we won't be dragged into a never-ending shooting war," Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told cabinet ministers.
Olmert will be replaced by a new prime minister as a new leader is to be elected on February 10. Right now the two main candidates are Kadima's Tzipi Livni and Likud's Benjamin Netanyahu, with Netanyahu currently leading in the polls.
