Factcheck.org declares that "the truth is that bills now before Congress don’t require federal money to be used for supporting abortion coverage. So the president is right to that limited extent. But it’s equally true that House and Senate legislation would allow a new 'public' insurance plan to cover abortions, despite language added to the House bill that technically forbids using public funds to pay for them. Obama has said in the past that 'reproductive services' would be covered by his public plan, so it’s likely that any new federal insurance plan would cover abortion unless Congress expressly prohibits that. Low- and moderate-income persons who would choose the 'public plan' would qualify for federal subsidies to purchase it. Private plans that cover abortion also could be purchased with the help of federal subsidies. Therefore, we judge that the president goes too far when he calls the statements that government would be funding abortions 'fabrications.' …Abortion foes quickly denounced Obama’s statement as untrue. The NRLC’s Johnson said 'the bill backed by the White House (H.R. 3200) explicitly authorizes the government plan to cover all elective abortions.' And our analysis shows that Johnson’s statement is correct. Though we of course take no position on whether the legislation should allow or not allow coverage for abortions, the House bill does just that. … As for the House bill as it stands now, it’s a matter of fact that it would allow both a 'public plan' and newly subsidized private plans to cover all abortions."

Gaddafi's Son Says Lockerbie Bomber's Release Was Tied To Oil Contracts

Unemployment: Vegas All-Time High 13.1%, California 11.9%, NYC 9.6%
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that "Nevada's unemployment rose to 12.5 percent in July, while joblessness in especially hard-hit Las Vegas surged to 13.1 percent. It’s the highest jobless rate both statewide and locally since the state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation began tracking data in 1976." The Los Angeles Times reports that "California's unemployment rate took an unexpected leap in July, reaching a post-Word War II high of 11.9%. The increase contrasts with the national rate, which declined slightly over the same period, and reflects ongoing weakness in the state's battered construction and financial services industries. The state lost a net 35,800 jobs last month, more than any other state, the U.S. Labor Department said today. It has lost 760,200 jobs over the last year." The Daily News reports that "New York City's unemployment rate jumped to 9.6% in July, the highest in a dozen years. It's the first time the city's jobless rate is higher than the national level - now 9.4% - since November 2007, before the recession began, the state Labor Department reported Thursday." Hmm. So much for "stimulus."
TweetObama To Raise 10-year Deficit To $9 trillion
Rueters reports that "the Obama administration will raise its 10-year budget deficit projection to approximately $9 trillion from $7.108 trillion in a report next week, a senior administration official told Reuters on Friday. The higher deficit figure, based on updated economic data, brings the White House budget office into line with outside estimates and gives further fuel to President Barack Obama's opponents, who say his spending plans are too expensive in light of budget shortfalls."

Nancy Pelosi: "“There’s No Way I Can Pass A Bill In The House Of Representatives Without A Public Option"
Bloomberg reports that "House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said legislation to revamp the U.S. health-care system won’t get through her chamber unless it creates a government-run insurance program to compete with the private industry. 'There’s no way I can pass a bill in the House of Representatives without a public option,' the California Democrat said at a press conference in San Francisco yesterday. Pelosi drew a line in the sand on one of the most contentious issues surrounding the health-care overhaul after Obama administration officials earlier suggested the White House might be willing to back away from the public option to win broader support. Republicans and even some Democrats have said the idea is a nonstarter in the Senate."

General Chuck Wald: "There Is A Military Option On Iran"
General Wald (U.S. Air Force four-star, retired) was the air commander for the initial stages of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and deputy commander of the U.S. European Command. Syria's Dictator Bashar Assad In Iran To Congratulate Mahmoud Ahmadenijad On His Re-Selection As President
The Jerusalem Post reports that Syria's leader Bashar "Assad is a close Iranian ally" who is using his trip to Iran to "personally congratulate Iran's president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, on his re-election, which touched off massive unrest after opponents claimed the results were rigged... But much of the international attention Wednesday focused on whether Assad lobbies for the release of Clotilde Reiss, a French academic on trial with more than 100 politicians, journalists and activists accused of trying to engineer a 'velvet revolution' to overthrow the Islamic leadership."
Ynetnews.com reports that "Iranian media reported that Assad had come to Iran to congratulate Ahmadinejad on his reelection. 'With the help of God, the resistance of the region's people will prevail and they will suffer a great defeat,' the Iranian president said during his meeting with his Syrian counterpart. 'Iran and Syria are on the same front, and any political event is an opportunity which must be used at the best way possible while helping one another,' he added. Assad condemned the 'foreign intervention' in Iran's internal affairs, saying that the main reason for this was the West's fear of Syria and Iran's success in the coming years. 'I believe the Iranian people's reelection is another emphasis on the fact that Iran and Syria must continue the regional policy as in the past,' the Syrian president said. He added, 'Today I came here to give you and the Iranian people warm greetings. I think that what happened in Iran is an important thing and a big lesson to the foreigners, and therefore they are not very satisfied.'"

Barney Frank Vs. Health Care Town Hall Protesters
For the most part, Barney Frank has long been an example of much of what is wrong with Washington. His role in the housing collapse, followed by his spin to make it seem like he had seen it coming and was trying to do all he could to avoid it, is more than enough proof as to why we need less of Barney Frank in the House of Representatives.
Even though it is difficult to give credit to a man like Barney Frank for much of anything, I must give him credit for an appropriate answer to a woman who asked him how Obama could propose a Nazi policy. It has been reported, however, that this woman asking the offensive and absurd question is a Lyndon LaRouche radical. That video is one of the videos below.

Israel Honors U.S. Soldiers Wounded In Iraq And Afghanistan
Ynetnews reports that "thirty American soldiers severely wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan were guests of the Israel Defense Forces attaché and Israeli Embassy in Washington on Sunday night. The injured troops, who are hospitalized at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, arrived at the Israeli Embassy building in Washington accompanied by their family members. Each of the soldiers – whether arriving in a wheelchair, on crutches or on his own two feet – was greeted by an Israeli officer who escorted him throughout the event, which also included dinner. 'The connection was real... The American soldiers shared their experiences during the event and listened to the battle stories of their Israeli counterparts. Israeli Ambassador to the United States Michael Oren told the American troops about his three children's IDF service and how one of them was injured while arresting wanted Palestinians in the territories."
"The meeting was moving and heartwarming," Brigadier General Ronen Dan, the Israel Air Forces' attaché in Washington, told Ynet. "I admit I was skeptic, but I left with a good feeling. We come from a different battlefield, but we all fight terror, we all have injured and we share the same values.
"These are precious people with a lot of unpleasant injuries. They seemed amazed by our gesture. We had a feeling they were thanking us from the bottom of their hearts," added Dan, who delivered a speech during the event.
