Obama Bows To Japanese Emperor
The media hypocrisy, the lack of consistency from the media, is shown clearly by the fact that the New York Times blasted President Bill Clinton in 1994 for almost bowing to the Japanese Emperor. The New York Times wrote that it "wasn’t a bow, exactly. But Mr. Clinton came close. He inclined his head and shoulders forward, he pressed his hands together. It lasted no longer than a snapshot, but the image on the South Lawn was indelible: an obsequent President, and the Emperor of Japan. Canadians still bow to England’s Queen; so do Australians. Americans shake hands. If not to stand eye-to-eye with royalty, what else were 1776 and all that about? … Guests invited to a white-tie state dinner at the White House (a Clinton Administration first) were instructed to address the Emperor as 'Your Majesty,' not 'Your Highness' or, worse, 'King.' And in what one Administration aide called 'some emperor thing,' an Army general was cautioned that he should not address the Emperor Akihito at all as he escorted him to the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery. But the 'thou need not bow' commandment from the State Department’s protocol office maintained a constancy of more than 200 years. Administration officials scurried to insist that the eager-to-please President had not really done the unthinkable." President Obama has now done the "unthinkable" twice and for some reason the very same New York Times remains silent. Obama bows to the King of Saudi Arabia, he bows to the Emperor of Japan, and the New York Times has nothing to report.

Diplomats Say That Iran's Former Secret Qom Nuclear Plant Is 7 Years Old
The AP reports that "Iran's recently revealed uranium enrichment hall is a highly fortified underground space that appears too small to house a civilian nuclear program, but large enough to serve for military activities, diplomats told The Associated Press on Thursday. Iran began building the facility near the holy city of Qom seven years ago, and after bouts of fitful construction could finish the project in a year, the diplomats said Both the construction timeline and the size of the facility - inspected last month by the International Atomic Energy Agency - are significant in helping shed light on Teheran's true nuclear intentions. Iran says it wants to enrich only to make atomic fuel for energy production, but the West fears it could retool its program to churn out fissile warhead material. One of the diplomats - a senior official from a European nation - said Thursday that the enrichment hall is too small to house the tens of thousands of centrifuges needed for peaceful industrial nuclear enrichment, but is the right size to contain the few thousand advanced machines that could generate the amount of weapons-grade uranium needed to make nuclear warheads." Obama Orders Intelligence Review On Fort Hood Shooting
The AP reports that "President Barack Obama has ordered a review of all intelligence related to Fort Hood shooting suspect Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, and whether the information was properly shared and acted upon within government agencies. The review will be overseen by John Brennan, assistant to the president for homeland security and counterterrorism. The first results are due to the White House by Nov. 30. Obama also ordered the preservation of the intelligence. Members of Congress, particularly Michigan Rep. Peter Hoekstra, the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, have called for a full examination of what agencies knew about Hasan's contacts with a radical imam and others of concern to the U.S., and what they did with the information. The FBI confirmed this week that the U.S. government knew about 10 to 20 e-mails between Hasan and a radical [jihadist] imam beginning in December 2008." Tweet
Authorities Move To Seize U.S. Properties Tied To Iran
The Los Angeles Times reports that federal "authorities Thursday moved to seize an array of U.S.-based properties, bank accounts and religious sites that they charged in court documents were funneling money to an Iranian bank involved in that country's suspected nuclear weapons program. Prosecutors sought the forfeiture of assets that included Islamic centers and mosques in California, Maryland, New York City and Houston, as well as land in Virginia. They also took steps to seize financial control of a 36-story office tower at 650 Fifth Ave. in Manhattan that they said was part of a business empire controlled by the Alavi Foundation. Prosecutors alleged that Alavi has been illegally 'providing numerous services to the Iranian government' -- as well as a large amount of funds. The properties and bank accounts being sought by the government in a civil lawsuit are worth more than $500 million and represent one of the largest attempted seizures of assets allegedly linked to Iran." U.S. State Department Secretly Rescues Jews Facing Islamic Persecution In Yemen
The Jerusalem Post reports that amid "a rise in anti-Semitic violence and terrorist activity in the country, the US State Department recently spirited nearly 60 Jews from Yemen and resettled them in the United States, The Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday. According to the report, nearly 350 Yemenite Jews lived in the country before the operation. Those who have already moved to the US are likely to be joined by 100 more, while the remainder will most likely move to Israel. 'If we had not done anything, we feared there would be bloodshed,' Gregg Rickman, a former State Department special envoy to monitor and combat anti-Semitism, told the paper."

FBI Notified By University Of California, Irvine Administrators Of Muslim Student Group Fundraising For Hamas
The Jewish Journal reports that administrators "at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), have sent information to the FBI alleging that members of the university’s Muslim Student Union (MSU) collected money at a campus event, which was given to an organization that provided funds to Hamas. 'We have forwarded information to the FBI for them to pursue as they see appropriate,' UCI spokesperson Cathy Lawhon said. 'It seemed that the FBI would be the correct law enforcement agency to look into it to see if there was any validity.' Providing funds or support to Hamas, which appears on the U.S. State Department’s list of foreign terrorist organizations, could be a violation of federal law. The allegation, outlined in a letter to UCI chief campus counsel Diane Fields Geocaris by the New York-based Zionist Organization of America and forwarded to the U.S. Department of Justice, stems from what the group says is an eyewitness account that MSU members, despite filing a form with the campus promising that the May 21 event would not be a fundraiser, distributed collection boxes and solicited funds from an audience of more than 850 at a presentation by British politician George Galloway, co-founder of Viva Palestina, which organizes convoys for the stated purpose of bringing humanitarian aid to Gaza. Speaking at the UCI student center as part of the MSU’s two-week program, 'Israel: The Politics of Genocide,' Galloway called on listeners to support his next convoy to Gaza, the eyewitness reported. Based on statements made by convoy participant, rap musician M-1 (aka Mutulu Olugabala), the ZOA maintains that material support and resources were instead given to Gazan government officials in July. Federal officials have not issued a statement on the status of an investigation." Tweet

Gallup: Republicans Beat Democrats On Generic Congressional Ballot
Gallup reports that "Republicans have moved ahead of Democrats by 48% to 44% among registered voters in the latest update on Gallup's generic congressional ballot for the 2010 House elections, after trailing by six points in July and two points last month... Over the course of the year, independents' preference for the Republican candidate in their districts has grown, from a 1-point advantage in July to the current 22-point gap. The overall results would predict a likely strong Republican showing if the House elections were held today... Since Gallup regularly began using the generic ballot to measure registered voters' preferences for the House of Representatives in 1950, it has been rare for Republicans to have an advantage over Democrats." Nidal Malik Hasan Had "Soldier Of Allah" Written On His Business Car
ABC News reports that "United States Army Major Nidal Hasan proclaimed himself a 'soldier of Allah' on private business cards he obtained over the Internet and kept in a box at his apartment near Fort Hood, Texas. The cards make no mention of his military affiliation, but underneath his name he listed himself as SoA (SWT). SoA is commonly used on jihadist Web sites as the acronym for Soldier of Allah, according to investigators and experts who have studied such sites. SWT is commonly used by Muslims as an acronym for Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, Glory to God. 'He was making no secret of allegiances,' said former FBI agent Brad Garrett, an ABC News consultant."

Bloomberg Shakes Hands With Islamist Terrorist's Associate
The AP reports that "New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg says he would not have shaken the hand of a character witness for a convicted terrorist if he had known about his history. Brooklyn imam Siraj Wahhaj (sur-AWJ' wah'-HAHJ) was among clergy members invited to meet the mayor Wednesday. Wahhaj was a witness for Omar Abdel-Rahman (AHB'-del RAKH'-men), who was convicted in 1995 of plotting to blow up city landmarks." Wahhaj was never charged in the case." Omar Abdel-Rahman is often referred to as "the Blind Sheikh" who led terrorists including those that bombed the World Trade Center in 1993. To learn more about this I strongly recommend the book listed on the book list of this website "Willful Blindness," by Andrew McCarthy who led the prosecution of those terrorists.
After the massacre at Fort Hood from an Islamist Army Major, WPIX reports that the response of the Mayor of New York was to meet with ten Muslim leaders and the police chief "in an attempt to assuage growing unease following the recent massacre at the Fort Hood Army Base in Texas and avoid any potential backlash against Muslim New Yorkers. 'We have no tolerance whatsoever for hate crimes or for intolerance,' Bloomberg told WPIX after the meeting." The sad irony is that the hate crime was already committed at Fort Hood when thirteen soldiers were murdered. The idea that the focus of political leaders like Michael Bloomberg in the aftermath of the massacre should be a nonexistent "backlash" against the Islamic community makes little sense and is almost perverse. If Muslims had been targeted by a hate crime then a meeting like this would be appropriate, but when American soldiers are killed by a Muslim extremist this meeting displays nothing more than misplaced priorities and a lack of appreciation for who the actual victims were that deserve the nation's attention.

Hoekstra, the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, would not identify the sources. But he said 'they are trying to follow up on it because they recognize that if there are communications – phone or money transfers with somebody in Pakistan – it just raises a whole other level of questions.'" Senior White House Official: Obama Does Not Plan To Accept Any Of The Afghanistan War Options Presented By His National Security Team
The AP reports that "President Barack Obama does not plan to accept any of the Afghanistan war options presented by his national security team, pushing instead for revisions to clarify how and when U.S. troops would turn over responsibility to the Afghan government, a senior administration official said Wednesday. That stance comes in the midst of forceful reservations about a possible troop buildup from the U.S. ambassador in Afghanistan, Karl Eikenberry, according to a second top administration official. In strongly worded classified cables to Washington, Eikenberry said he had misgivings about sending in new troops while there are still so many questions about the leadership of Afghan President Hamid Karzai." NPR: Walter Reed Officials Wondered If Hasan Was "Psychotic"
NPR reports that starting "in the spring of 2008, key officials from Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences held a series of meetings and conversations, in part about Maj. Nidal Hasan, the man accused of killing 13 people and wounding dozens of others last week during a shooting spree at Fort Hood. One of the questions they pondered: Was Hasan psychotic? 'Put it this way,' says one official familiar with the conversations that took place. 'Everybody felt that if you were deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan, you would not want Nidal Hasan in your foxhole.' In documents reviewed by NPR and conversations with medical officials at Walter Reed and USUHS, new details have emerged regarding serious concerns that officials raised about Hasan during his time at both institutions. Hasan spent six years as a psychiatrist at Walter Reed, beginning in 2003, and he had a fellowship at USUHS until shortly before he went to Fort Hood in the summer of 2009. A committee of officials from both places regularly meets once a month to discuss pressing topics surrounding the psychiatrists and other mental health professionals who train and work at the institutions. NPR spoke with military psychiatrists and officials who worked closely with Hasan, as well as those who monitored the committee and/or student and faculty matters. None would allow their names to be used, because of the criminal investigation into the Fort Hood shootings... When a group of key officials gathered in the spring of 2008 for their monthly meeting in a Bethesda, Md., office, one of the leading — and most perplexing — items on their agenda was: What should we do about Hasan? Hasan had been a trouble spot on officials' radar since he started training at Walter Reed, six years earlier. Several officials confirm that supervisors had repeatedly given him poor evaluations and warned him that he was doing substandard work. Both fellow students and faculty were deeply troubled by Hasan's behavior — which they variously called disconnected, aloof, paranoid, belligerent, and schizoid. The officials say he antagonized some students and faculty by espousing what they perceived to be extremist Islamic views. His supervisors at Walter Reed had even reprimanded him for telling at least one patient that 'Islam can save your soul.' Participants in the spring meeting and in subsequent conversations about Hasan reportedly included John Bradley, chief of psychiatry at Walter Reed; Robert Ursano, chairman of the Psychiatry Department at USUHS; Charles Engel, assistant chair of the Psychiatry Department and director of Hasan's psychiatry fellowship; Dr. David Benedek, another assistant chairman of psychiatry at USUHS; psychiatrist Carroll J. Diebold; and Scott Moran, director of the psychiatric residency program at Walter Reed, according to colleagues and other sources who monitor the meetings. NPR tried to contact all these officials and the public affairs officers at the institutions. They either didn't return phone calls or said they could not comment." Tweet
Fort Hood Shooter's Superiors Questioned His Behavior
The AP reports that a "group of doctors overseeing Nidal Malik Hasan's medical training discussed concerns about his overly zealous religious views and strange behavior months before the Army major was accused of opening fire on soldiers and civilians at Fort Hood, Texas. Doctors and staff overseeing Hasan's training viewed him at times as belligerent, defensive and argumentative in his frequent discussions of his Muslim faith, a military official familiar with several group discussions about Hasan said. The official was not authorized to speak publicly about the meetings and spoke on condition of anonymity. As a psychiatrist in training, Hasan was characterized in meetings as a mediocre student and lazy worker, a matter of concern among the doctors and staff at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences military medical school, the official said. The concerns about Hasan's performance and religious views were shared with other military officials considering his assignment after he finished his medical training, and the consensus was to send him to Fort Hood, the official said. Fort Hood was considered the best assignment for Hasan because other doctors could handle the workload if he continued to perform poorly and his superiors could document any continued behavior problems, the official said." "2012" Director Roland Emmerich Abandoned Plans To Obliterate Islam's Holiest Site On The Big Screen For Fear Of Extremist Islamic Retaliation
The Guardian reports that "he blew up the Empire State Building and the White House in Independence Day, sent a giant monster careering through the heart of Manhattan in Godzilla and destroyed the famous Hollywood sign in The Day After Tomorrow. But it seems there are places even Roland Emmerich will not go - the German film-maker has revealed he abandoned plans to obliterate Islam's holiest site on the big screen for fear of attracting a fatwa. For his latest disaster movie, 2012, the 53-year-old director had wanted to demolish the Kaaba, the iconic cube-shaped structure in the Grand Mosque in Mecca that Muslims the world over turn towards every day when they pray and which they circle seven times during the hajj pilgrimage. But after some consideration, he decided it might not be such a smart idea, after all."
"I wanted to do that, I have to admit," Emmerich told scifiwire.com. "But my co-writer Harald [Kloser] said I will not have a fatwa on my head because of a movie. And he was right.
"We have to all, in the western world, think about this. You can actually let Christian symbols fall apart, but if you would do this with [an] Arab symbol, you would have ... a fatwa, and that sounds a little bit like what the state of this world is.
"So it's just something which I kind of didn't [think] was [an] important element, anyway, in the film, so I kind of left it out."

Senior Official: Hasan Had More "Unexplained Connections" To People Under Investigation By FBI Besides Jihadist Cleric Awlaki
ABC News reports that a "senior government official tells ABC News that investigators have found that alleged Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan had 'more unexplained connections to people being tracked by the FBI' than just radical cleric Anwar al Awlaki. The official declined to name the individuals but Congressional sources said their names and countries of origin were likely to emerge soon. Questions already surround Major Hasan's contact with Awlaki, a radical cleric based in Yemen whom authorities consider a recruiter for al Qaeda. U.S. officials now confirm Hasan sent as many as 20 e-mails to Awlaki. Authorities intercepted the e-mails but later deemed them innocent or protected by the first amendment. The FBI said it turned over the information to the Army, but Defense Department officials today denied that. One military investigator on a joint terror task force with the FBI was shown the e-mails, but they were never forwarded in a formal way to more senior officials at the Pentagon, and the Army did not learn of the contacts until after the shootings... The Washington Post reported Tuesday that Hasan gave a PowerPoint presentation to fellow Army doctors in 2007 in which he said, 'It's getting harder and harder for Muslims in the service to morally justify being in a military that seems constantly engaged against fellow Muslims.' He recommended that Muslim soldiers be given the option of being released from the military as conscientious objectors to decrease what he called 'adverse events.' Federal Judge Declares Christian License Plates Unconstitutional
The State reports that a "federal judge ruled Tuesday that South Carolina can't issue license plates showing the image of a cross in front of a stained glass window along with the phrase 'I Believe.'... U.S. District Judge Cameron Currie's ruling said the license plate was unconstitutional because it violates the First Amendment ban on establishment of religion by government. The fight over the plates started shortly after Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer helped push the legislation through in 2008. Groups including Americans United for Separation of Church and State and American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee challenged the state's ability to put a religious message on a state license tag... Her ruling singled out Bauer after he pushed a tag Christian advocates sought in Florida, but legislators there did not approve. Bauer wanted to accomplish in South Carolina what had been unsuccessful in Florida, Currie wrote: To 'gain legislative approval of a specialty plate promoting the majority religion: Christianity. Whether motivated by sincerely held Christian beliefs or an effort to purchase political capital with religious coin, the result is the same. The statute is clearly unconstitutional and defense of its implementation has embroiled the state in unnecessary (and expensive) litigation.' Bauer said he wasn't surprised by the ruling and would like to see it appealed. 'I don't expect anything different from a liberal judge who was appointed by Bill Clinton,' Bauer said. 'If she wants to single me out, so be it.' Bauer said it 'once again shows how liberal judges are not just interpreting the law but making legislation.'"

Both FBI And Defense Department Had Information On Nidal Malik Hasan But Concluded He Did Not Merit Investigation
The AP reports that finger-pointing has "erupted between federal agencies Tuesday over Fort Hood shooting suspect Nidal Hasan. Government officials said a Defense Department terrorism investigator looked into Hasan's contacts with a radical imam months ago, but a military official denied prior knowledge of the Army psychiatrist's contacts with any Muslim extremists. The two government officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case on the record, said the Washington-based joint terrorism task force overseen by the FBI was notified of communications between Hasan and a radical imam overseas, and the information was turned over to a Defense Criminal Investigative Service employee assigned to the task force. The communications were gathered by investigators beginning in December 2008 and continuing into early this year. That Defense investigator wrote up an assessment of Hasan after reviewing the communications and the Army major's personnel file, according to these officials. The assessment concluded Hasan did not merit further investigation — in large part because his communications with the imam were centered on a research paper about the effects of combat in Iraq and Afghanistan and the investigator determined that Hasan was in fact working on such a paper, the officials said." Federal Authorities Did Not Look Into Fort Hood Jihadist Because He Did Not Seem Violent
The New York Times reports that "intelligence agencies intercepted communications last year and this year between the military psychiatrist accused of shooting to death 13 people at Fort Hood, Tex., and a radical cleric in Yemen known for his incendiary anti-American teachings. But the federal authorities dropped an inquiry into the matter after deciding the messages from the psychiatrist, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, warranted no further action, government officials said Monday. Major Hasan’s exchanges with Anwar al-Awlaki, once a spiritual leader at a mosque in suburban Virginia where Major Hasan worshiped, indicate that the troubled military psychiatrist came to the attention of the authorities long before last Thursday’s shooting rampage at Fort Hood, but that the authorities left him in his post. It is not clear what was said in the exchanges, believed to be e-mail messages, and whether they would have offered a hint at the major’s outspoken views or his declining emotional state. The communications, the subject of an inquiry by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Army investigators, provide the first indication that Major Hasan was in direct communication with the cleric, who on Monday praised Major Hasan on his Web site, saying the Army psychiatrist 'did the right thing' in attacking soldiers preparing to deploy to Afghanistan and Iraq. Depending on what is contained in the exchanges, the disclosure of the government’s decision not to take any steps against Major Hasan may provoke criticism of the F.B.I. and Army investigators for missing possible warning signs of an alleged mass killer. But federal officials briefed on the case said their decision to break off the investigation was reasonable based on the information about Major Hasan that was compiled at the time, which they said gave no indication he was likely to engage in violence." British Spies Helped Uncover Plot Against NYC Subway
The Telegraph reports that the "plan, which reportedly would have been the biggest attack on America since 9/11, was uncovered after Scotland Yard intercepted an email. The force alerted the FBI, who launched an operation which led to airport shuttle bus driver Najibullah Zazi, 24, being charged with conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction. The Afghan is alleged to have been part of a group who used stolen credit cards to buy components for bombs including nail varnish remover. The chemicals bought were similar to those used to make the 2005 London Tube and bus explosives which killed 52 people. Zazi, from Denver, Colorado, is understood to have been given instructions by a senior member of al Qaeda in Pakistan over the internet. US authorities allegedly found bomb-making instructions on his laptop and his fingerprints on batteries and measuring scales they seized. A phone containing footage of New York's Grand Central Station, thought to have been made by him during a visit a week before his arrest, was also found along with explosive residue. Zazi was also said by informants to have attended a terrorist training camp in Pakistan. The alleged plot was unmasked after an email address that was being monitored as part of the abortive Operation Pathway was suddenly reactivated. Operation Pathway was investigating an alleged UK terrorist cell but went awry after the then Met Police counter-terrorism head Bob Quick was pictured walking into Downing Street displaying top secret documents. Eleven Pakistani suspects were arrested immediately after the gaffe but later released without charge. However, security staff continued to monitor the email address which eventually yielded results. The British discovery also came at just the right time – the US had threatened to sever intelligence links over the release of Lockerbie bomber Al Megrahi. A British security source told The Sun: 'This was excellent work and highlights the fact we produce good information. '(The US authorities) were delighted with the intelligence we gave them and believe it helped prevent a catastrophic attack.'"

Ynetnews.com reports that "German Chancellor Angela Merkel and other leaders hailed the human courage that toppled the Berlin Wall, saying the historic events of 20 years ago showed the world could tackle new challenges, from poverty to climate change. Merkel and fellow leaders from Britain, France and Russia spoke to tens of thousands gathered at the Brandenburg Gate to celebrate the anniversary of the collapse of the Wall, which ended the Cold War and paved the way for German reunification. 'Together we brought down the Iron Curtain and I am convinced this can give us the strength for the 21st century,' said Merkel, who grew up behind the Wall herself in communist East Germany. Merkel, the first east German to hold the job, called the fall of the wall an 'epic' moment in history. 'For me, it was one of the happiest moments of my life,' Merkel said. Yet she also recalled the tragic side of November 9 for Germans – the Nazi's Kristallnacht – or Night of Broken Glass – anti-Semitic pogrom 71 years ago. At least 91 German Jews were killed, hundreds of synagogues destroyed, and thousands of Jewish businesses vandalized and looted in the state-sanctioned riots that night. 'Both show that freedom is not self evident,' Merkel said. 'Freedom must be fought for. Freedom must be defended time and again. Freedom is the most valuable commodity in our political and social system.' 'Our good fortune obliges us to take on the challenges of our time,' she added, mentioning security, economic well-being and protection of the environment as key tasks confronting the world."

Army Doctors Complained To Superiors About Hasan, And Nothing Was Done
ABC News reports that "a fellow Army doctor who studied with Hasan, Val Finell, told ABC News, 'He would frequently say he was a Muslim first and an American second. And that came out in just about everything he did at the University.' Finell said he and other Army doctors complained to superiors about Hasan's statements. 'And we questioned how somebody could take an oath of office…be an officer in the military and swear allegiance to the constitution and to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic and have that type of conflict,' Finell told ABC News."

Fort Hood Shooter Had Tried To Contact Al-Qaeda
ABC News reports that "U.S. intelligence agencies were aware months ago that Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan was attempting to make contact with people associated with al Qaeda, two American officials briefed on classified material in the case told ABC News. It is not known whether the intelligence agencies informed the Army that one of its officers was seeking to connect with suspected al Qaeda figures, the officials said. Rep. Peter Hoekstra (R-MI), the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, said that he requested the CIA and other intelligence agencies brief the committee on what was known, if anything, about Hasan by the U.S. intelligence community, only to be refused. In response, Hoekstra issued a document preservation request to four intelligence agencies. The letter, dated November 7th, was sent to directors Dennis Blair (DNI), Robert Mueller (FBI), Lt. Gen Keith Alexander (NSA) and Leon Panetta (CIA). Hoekstra said he is 'absolutely furious' that the house intel committee has been refused an intelligence briefing by the DNI or CIA on Hasan's attempt to reach out to al Qaeda, as first reported by ABC News."

Senator Joe Lieberman: Fort Hood Massacre A "Terrorist Act" Of "Islamic Extremism"
New York Daily News reports that "Sen. Joe Lieberman called the Fort Hood massacre an act of 'Islamist extremism' - even as top Army brass warned Sunday against guessing at a motive, fearing backlash against Muslim soldiers. 'There are very, very strong warning signs here that Dr. Hasan had become an Islamist extremist and, therefore, that this was a terrorist act,' Lieberman (I-Conn) told Fox News on Sunday. 'If the reports that we're receiving of various statements he made, acts he took are valid, he had turned to Islamist extremism.' Lieberman, the former Democratic vice presidential candidate, chairs the Senate Homeland Security committee."
Unfortunately, Lieberman's comments are in stark contrast with the politically correct response of top Army officials. U.S. Army chief of staff George Casey told CNN he's deeply worried "that the speculation could cause something that we don't want to see happen." Casey further said that "it would be a shame - as great a tragedy as this was - it would be a shame if our diversity became a casualty as well."

Senator Tom Coburn Threatens To Have Entire Bill Read On Senate Floor
Politico reports that "Sen. Tom Coburn, the Oklahoma Republican who developed a close friendship with President Obama when they served together in the Senate, is threatening to have the entire health care bill read on the Senate floor... 'That's a possibility,' Coburn spokesman John Hart said. 'He wants to make sure everyone has a chance to read the bill.' Coburn, who has a reputation for using procedural rules to block and delay legislation, has been an outspoken critic of the president’s health care overhaul. He recently told the New York Times: 'My mission is to frame this health care debate in terms of the fiscal ruin of this country. … I have instructed my staff to clear my schedule for every minute that bill is on the floor.'"

Pelosi Health Care Bill Passes On Saturday Night
The AP reports that the "Democratic-controlled House has narrowly passed landmark health care reform legislation, handing President Barack Obama a hard won victory on his signature domestic priority. Republicans were nearly unanimous in opposing the plan that would expand coverage to tens of millions of Americans who lack it and place tough new restrictions on the insurance industry. The 220-215 vote late Saturday cleared the way for the Senate to begin a long-delayed debate on the issue that has come to overshadow all others in Congress." Tweet
