Great Week For Republicans Just Got Better: Keith Olbermann Suspended From MSNBC "Indefinitely Without Pay"

CBS News reports that "Keith Olbermann has been suspended indefinitely without pay from MSNBC for making donations to three Democrats in violation of NBC's ethics policy. 'I became aware of Keith's political contributions late last night,' Phil Griffin, President of MSNBC, said in a statement. 'Mindful of NBC News policy and standards, I have suspended him indefinitely without pay.' Olbermann, who does not hide his liberal views, has acknowledged donations of $2,400 each to Kentucky Senate candidate Jack Conway and Arizona Reps. Raul Grijalva and Gabrielle Giffords during this election cycle."

Keith Olbermannn being suspended the same week Republicans make huge gains in the midterm elections is what conservatives call a great week. That being said, I actually do not think Olbermann should face these reprecussions for donating to Democratic candidates. The NBC rule or policy states: "Anyone working for NBC News who takes part in civic or other outside activities may find that these activities jeopardize his or her standing as an impartial journalist because they may create the appearance of a conflict of interest." It's sort of bizarre to apply a rule dealing with one's "standing as an impartial journalist" to Keith Olbermann who is neither impartial nor is he a journalist. It seems odd to punish Keith Olbermann on this basis. Olbermann is a leftist ranting TV host that not a single viewer can believe even has the pretense of being impartial. He is a shill for liberal Democrats. That he donated to a few Democrat campaigns hardly seems like a grave offense especially as it is not one that should at all surprise anybody. He really should be treated no differently, despite my disagreements with his show and the tenor of his rants, than Sean Hannity who has also endorsed or donated to Congressional campaign committee's that he supported.
