Bizarre: Obama Ditches Press Conference On Tax Deal And Leaves Bill Clinton At The Podium
To watch the video for yourself visit http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2010/12/10/obama_ditches_tax_cut_presser_after_bill_clinton_takes_control.html. I find that pretty bizarre. The sitting President actually leaving a press conference focused on a deal he worked out on tax policy because he's "been keeping the First Lady waiting," and the former President remaining to answer questions about the current President's agenda. Maybe Obama ought to give Robert Gibbs the boot and ask Bill Clinton to be his new Press Secretary. Tweet

Baltimore Convert To Islam Charged In Terror Plot Against Military Recruiting Center
The Washington Times reports that "Federal authorities on Wednesday charged a 21-year-old Baltimore man with participating in what he believed was a plot to detonate a car bomb outside a military recruiting center in Catonsville, Md. Antonio Martinez, who also goes by the name Muhammad Hussain and is identified in court papers as a 'recent convert to Islam,' was charged with attempted murder of federal officers/employees and attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction against U.S. property."
The Associated Press writes that the "21-year-old construction worker who had recently converted to Islam and told an FBI informant he thought about nothing but jihad... The bomb he is accused of trying to detonate was fake and had been provided by an undercover FBI agent. It was loaded into an SUV that Martinez parked in front of the recruiting center, authorities said, and an FBI informant picked him up and drove him to a nearby vantage point where he tried to set it off."

US Drops Demand For Another Israeli Settlement Freeze
The Jerusalem Post reports that the "US-led diplomatic process between Israel and the Palestinian Authority is going back to the drawing board, a senior US official announced Tuesday night. Following consultation with the sides, it was determined that a further settlement moratorium would not provide the basis for a framework agreement... The surprise announcement came nearly a month after Netanyahu and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton agreed in principle on 90-day settlement moratorium extension in exchange for a package of incentives from Washington. Since that time the US has held intensive talks with both Israel and the PA about the precise details of the incentives and what would happen during the three months of negotiations during the freeze. What emerged, according to diplomatic officials, was a gap between what Israel thought could be achieved during this time, and Palestinian expectations. The Palestinians, according to Israeli sources, wanted the talks to focus on border issues, in the expectation that this issue would be solved within three months. Israel, however, refused to commit to this timetable, arguing that it would not talk about borders without talking about security agreements, and that it would not agree to ceding land without knowing in advance what security arrangements would be put in place when it withdrew. Among security arrangements Israel is demanding are an Israeli presence on the eastern border of a future Palestinian state, and that the future state be demilitarized. Tweet

Helen Thomas' School Scraps Award Over Anti-Semtic Remark
CNN reports that the "alma mater of journalist Helen Thomas will not bestow an award that had been given in her name, making the decision after the 90-year-old scribe made more controversial comments about Jewish people. Wayne State University, the Detroit, Michigan, institution that Thomas graduated from in 1942, said in a statement Friday that the school will no longer give out the Helen Thomas Spirit of Diversity in the Media Award." CNN reports that according "to the Detroit Free Press and Detroit News, she said, 'Congress, the White House and Hollywood, Wall Street are owned by the Zionists. No question.'" As is well known, "Thomas abrupty retired earlier this year from her position as a White House columnist for the Hearst media chain after a YouTube video circulated in which she told a rabbi that Israel should 'get the hell out of Palestine.' She also said Jewish people should leave Israel and go home to 'Poland, Germany ... and America and everywhere else.'" Tweet
