British Doctors Now Prescribing Drinking Water To Combat Dehydration Epidemic
Government-run healthcare on full display:
Doctors are prescribing drinking water for neglected elderly patients to stop them dying of thirst in hospital. The measure – to remind nurses of the most basic necessity – is revealed in a damning report on pensioner care in NHS wards. Some trusts are neglecting the elderly on such a fundamental level their wards could face closure orders.Tweet
The snapshot study, triggered by a Mail campaign, found staff routinely ignored patients’ calls for help and forgot to check that they had had enough to eat and drink. Dehydration contributes to the death of more than 800 hospital patients every year.
The watchdog said three of 12 NHS trusts visited in the past three months were failing to meet the most basic standards required by law. They were: Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust and Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust in North London. The findings follow a joint campaign by the Mail and the Patients Association last year which exposed shocking examples of substandard care.

He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. Sentencing is tentatively scheduled for October 21.
Ahmadinejad: Iranian People Demand "Complete Elimination Of Israel"
From PressTV:
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has warned against plots hatched by the United States to save Israel, urging world nations to remain vigilant.Tweet"The US seeks to save the Zionist regime (Israel) with deceit. Everybody should know that the survival of the Zionist regime and its existence even in one span of the Palestinian soil is like preserving a cancerous tumor in the body of regional nations, and [is] a permanent threat against them,” said President Ahmadinejad in the Iranian city of Qom on Thursday.
He added that the Iranian people and world nations are awakened and demand justice, freedom and the complete elimination of Israel, IRNA reported.
The Iranian chief executive pointed to new plots of the US against the Palestinian people and its support for Israel and said, “Nations should choose officials who explicitly express their opposition to the presence of the US and Zionists in the region.”
President Ahmadinejad warned regional countries against an escalation of the situation in the region, stressing, “They should be cautious not to jump out of the frying-pan into the fire.”
He said the US foreign policy after Iran's Islamic Revolution of 1979 has been aimed at stopping the progress of the Iranian nation and stressed that US President Barack Obama will “fail and become history with humiliation.”
“The enemy has worn the mask of deceit and is chanting the slogan of peaceful coexistence… but in fact intends to impose American ideas on nations,” Ahmadinejad added....

61% Of Americans Support All Or Most Abortions Being Illegal
Sixty-one percent of American adults—including some who describe themselves as “pro-choice”—told Gallup in a survey conducted May 5-8 that abortion should be illegal in all or most circumstances.TweetThe Gallup survey, published today, asked 1,018 American adults whether they considered themselves “pro-choice” or “pro-life” on abortion. It also asked: “Do you think abortions should be legal under any circumstances, legal only under certain circumstances, or illegal in all circumstances?”
For those who answered that abortion should be “legal only under certain circumstances,” Gallup asked the follow-up question: “Do you think abortion should be legal in most circumstances or only in a few circumstances?”
Forty-nine percent told Gallup they were pro-choice and 45 percent said they were pro-life, marking the first time since May 2008 that the percentage of Americans describing themselves to Gallup as pro-choice exceeded the percentage describing themselves as pro-life.

Elementary School Children At Every Age Level Forced To Listen To Lessons On "Gender Diversity" From "Gender Spectrum Trainer" In Oakland, California
The San Francisco Chronicle reports that "[o]n Monday and today, Redwood Heights Elementary School students at every grade level were being introduced to the topic of gender diversity, with lesson plans tailored to each age group... The lesson on gender differences was one small part of a much larger effort to offer what parents last year said they wanted at the school: a warm, welcoming, safe and caring environment for all children, said Principal Sara Stone. The school also teaches students about the variety of families at the school and takes on the issue of bullying."
"Gender Spectrum trainer" Joel Baum told the students that "it turns out that there are not just two options" when it comes to gender. He told the children, "People can feel like girls. They can feel like boys. They can feel like both, and they can feel like neither."
I guess the school in Oakland would prefer if every child were raised "genderless" like this kid in Toronto: http://www.parentcentral.ca/parent/babiespregnancy/babies/article/995112--parents-keep-child-s-gender-secret. Lucky kid.
I have a couple of basic questions. First, what the heck is a "gender spectrum trainer" and why is one of those in an elementary school classroom? What the heck is "gender diversity" and why do kids need to listen to that? And secondly, why do those that push for this kind of ridiculousness to be part of elementary school education pretend that transgender brainwashing has anything to do with school "bullying," as if there really is no difference between a basic primer on the golden rule and telling little boys they can feel little girls, and little girls like they can feel like little boys? A little honesty about the agenda here, please.

Supreme Court Upholds State Requirements On Employment Verification Of Legal Status
The court ruled 5-3 upholding the Arizona law:
http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifThe U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday upheld an Arizona law that imposes sanctions against businesses that hire illegal immigrants.
The court, on a 5-3 vote, said federal immigration law does not bar Arizona from suspending or revoking the licenses of businesses that employ unauthorized aliens.
“Because we conclude that the state’s licensing provisions fall squarely within the federal statute’s savings clause and that the Arizona regulation does not otherwise conflict with federal law, we hold that the Arizona law is not preempted,” Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in a 27-page opinion.
Matthew Franck at Bench Memos:
Chief Justice Roberts wrote for the majority, and based the ruling on the plain meaning of the federal immigration statute, which expressly preserves the power of states to legislate on the subject of employing illegal immigrants through their licensing power, as Arizona had done here.
Given the plain meaning and intent of federal and constitutional law, it is a shame that this was not a unanimous ruling. To read the full opinion visit http://www.law.cornell.edu/supct/html/09-115.ZO.html#* Tweet
Senate Moves To Extend PATRIOT Act
By a cloture vote of 79 to 18 the Senate moved a four-year extension of key provisions of the PATRIOT Act closer to a final vote. The AP reports that facing "a midnight deadline when three terror-fighting tools would expire, the Senate struggled to find a way to stage a final vote in the face of continued resistance from a single senator, Republican freshman Rand Paul of Kentucky. Following a Senate vote, the House was expected to quickly approve the legislation for President Obama's signature."
For some reason, I remember previous PATRIOT Act extensions and the law itself being far more controversial when Bush was in office. Now you essentially have opposition from one lone Republican Senator and the law is being extended for four years without any major reporting or even controversy. I support the extension of this common sense law needed to maintain our security and give law enforcement the necessary legal tools to thwart terrorist plots, but it is worthy of noting how little opposition or controversy is now engendered by the law once Obama is the occupant of the White House.

Judiciary Gone Wild: New Jersey Supreme Court Forces Legislature To Spend More Money, Wisconsin Judge Strikes Down Union Bill
Judge Maryann Sumi struck down Wisconsin’s reform legislation: In a 33-page decision issued Thursday, Dane County Circuit Judge Maryann Sumi said she would freeze the legislation because GOP lawmakers on a committee broke the state’s open meetings law in passing it March 9. … “This decision explains why it is necessary to void the legislative actions flowing from those violations,” wrote Sumi, who was appointed to the bench by former GOP Gov. Tommy Thompson.
The New Jersey Supreme Court also recently engaged in an illegitimate "power-grab":The people of New Jersey ought to be outraged that their state’s highest court has unilaterally appointed itself the supreme authority on matters of spending policy, not simply because that would be a bad system in theory, but because it violates New Jersey’s own constitution, which gives plenary appropriations authority to the legislature. And they ought to be even more outraged if legislative leaders acquiesce to this power grab in order to give themselves political cover to raise taxes. In his statement reacting to the case, Governor Christie stated that “New Jersey has some of the highest taxes in America. New Jerseyans are already incredibly overtaxed. Therefore, as I have repeatedly stated, I do not believe raising taxes is the answer.” As I see it, Democratic legislators have two options here: (1) allow the judicial branch to get away with dictating tax increases; or (2) make the difficult choices on the spending side that would prevent such a tax increase. Whatever they decide, I’m sure it will make the next election cycle fairly interesting.

Governor Rick Perry Signs Sonogram Before Abortion Bill Into Texas Law
The Miami Herald reports that Governor Rick Perry "said Tuesday during a ceremonial signing of the bill that Texas women will now have information they need if they decide to end their pregnancies... The law, which takes effect Sept. 1, requires doctors to make the image of the fetus, and the fetal heartbeat, available to a woman, although she may decline to see or hear it. Doctors must describe the fetus, noting the size and condition of limbs and organs. The law also requires women to wait 24 hours after the sonogram to have an abortion, unless they live more than 100 miles from an abortion provider. In that case, they have to wait two hours. Exceptions are allowed in emergencies, in cases of incest or rape, or if there are fetal abnormalities."

Senate Democrats To Rebuke Obama Over Israel "1967 Lines" Border Comment
Even Democrats on Capitol Hill are looking for ways to issue a rebuke to the President:
TweetSenate Democrats are expected to support a resolution intended as a rebuff to President Obama’s call for basing Middle East peace talks on the 1967 Israeli-Palestinian borders.
It would be a rare rebuke of the president by the upper chamber and a sign that Democrats are worried about the impact of last week’s speech on the U.S.-Israel relationship and pro-Israel constituents.
Democrats in both chambers are scrambling to fix the damage caused when Obama called for the 1967 borders and land swaps as a basis for peace.
Some Democrats have tried to downplay the rift, but Israel’s strongest supporters in Congress say there’s no denying that Obama made a tactical mistake in handling the relationship.

U.S. Supreme Court Orders Release Of Over 30,000 Prisoners In California
The Supreme Court issued another wrong and unconstitutional ruling in Brown v. Plata earlier today. 5 out of 9 Justices, with Justice Anthony Kennedy unsurprisingly joined by the four liberal Justices, voted to force the release tens of thousands of felons in California under the guise of it being "required by the Constitution": The Supreme Court on Monday endorsed a court order requiring California to cut its prison population by tens of thousands of inmates to improve health care for those who remain behind bars. The court said in a 5-4 decision that the reduction is “required by the Constitution” to correct longstanding violations of inmates’ rights. The order mandates a prison population of no more than 110,000 inmates, still far above the system’s designed capacity. There are more than 142,000 inmates in the state’s 33 adult prisons, meaning roughly 32,000 inmates will need to be transferred to other jurisdictions or released.
Justice Antonin Scalia vigorously dissented writing (with Justice Clarence Thomas joining in his opinion):Today the Court affirms what is perhaps the most radical injunction issued by a court in our Nation’s history: an order requiring California to release the staggering number of 46,000 convicted criminals.
There comes before us, now and then, a case whose proper outcome is so clearly indicated by tradition and common sense, that its decision ought to shape the law, rather than vice versa. One would think that, before allowing the decree of a federal district court to release 46,000 convicted felons, this Court would bend every effort to read the law in such a way as to avoid that outrageous result. Today, quite to the contrary, the Court disregards stringently drawn provisions of the governing statute, and traditional constitutional limitations upon the power of a federal judge, in order to uphold the absurd.
The proceedings that led to this result were a judicial travesty. I dissent because the institutional reform the District Court has undertaken violates the terms of the governing statute, ignores bedrock limitations on the power of Article III judges, and takes federal courts wildly beyond their institutional capacity.
To read Scalia's full dissenting opinion visit http://www.law.cornell.edu/supct/html/09-1233.ZD.html.
Justice Alito also dissented (with Chief Justice John Roberts joining this opinion):The Constitution does not give federal judges the authority to run state penal systems. Decisions regarding state prisons have profound public safety and financial implications, and the States are generally free to make these decisions as they choose... In this case, a three-judge court exceeded its authority under the Constitution.. The court ordered a radical reduction in the California prison population without finding that the current population level violates the Constitution... The prisoner release ordered in this case is unprecedented...[and] improvident... In largely sustaining the decision below, the majority is gambling with the safety of the people of California. Before putting public safety at risk, every reasonable precaution should be taken. The decision below should be reversed, and the case should be remanded for this to be done. I fear that today’s decision, like prior prisoner release orders, will lead to a grim roster of victims. I hope that I am wrong. In a few years, we will see.

"He has in effect sought to reduce Israel's negotiation power and I condemn him for that," former New York Mayor Ed Koch told Reuters. Anti-Defamation League Newspaper Ad Against Hamas
To see the "See Hamas For What It Is" ad visit http://adl.org/hamasmustchange/Abbas_Ad.pdf
The ADL explains the purpose of the ad by writing the following:
TweetIn response to the newly forged alliance between Fatah and Hamas for a unified Palestinian government, the Anti-Defamation League is calling on President Mahmoud Abbas and the international community to add a "fourth condition" for the terrorist group to gain international recognition and legitimacy: Reject anti-Semitism.
The members of the Quartet – the United States, the United Nations, Russia and the European Union – continue to insist on Hamas meeting three important "conditions" prior to international recognition and engagement: recognizing the State of Israel, renouncing the use of terrorism and violence, and recognizing the validity of previously negotiated Israeli-Palestinian agreements.
ADL is calling on the Quartet and Palestinian leaders to demand that Hamas comply with one additional crucial condition as a prerequisite to forming a unity government: To renounce the anti-Semitism inherent in Hamas' founding ideology, and to expunge from its charter all elements of anti-Jewish conspiracy theories and rhetoric.
Hamas’ ideology is based on age-old, classic anti-Semitic myths. The founding covenant of Hamas is committed not only to the destruction of Israel and the establishment of an Islamic state in its place, but is replete with raw, unadulterated Jew-hatred.
Adopted in August 1988, the Hamas Charter openly embraces the notorious anti-Semitic forgery, "The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion," holding it up as evidence that Jews are innately greedy, manipulative and conniving. The charter adopts classical anti-Semitic canards: Jews as plotting to control the world, Jews acquiring wealth by stealing, and Jews controlling the levers of power in media, government and finance. Such stereotypical anti-Semitic canards have been used through the centuries to defame and demonize Jews, leading to violence, pogroms and, ultimately, the Holocaust.
Aside from its embrace of virulently anti-Semitic myths, the Hamas Charter is filled with conspiracy theories about Jews through history. The Charter blames "world Zionism" for the French and Communist Revolutions, World War I, and the establishment of the United Nations, which it claims was created by Jews "in order to rule the world by their intermediary."
Moreover, anti-Semitism permeates the statements of Hamas officials. Recent anti-Jewish statements by Hamas officials include :
- "Whoever is killed by a Jew receives the reward of two martyrs, because the very thing that the Jews did to the prophets was done to him. The Jews are the most despicable and contemptible nation to crawl upon the face of the Earth, because they have displayed hostility to Allah. Allah will kill the Jews in the hell of the world to come, just like they killed the believers in the hell of this world." – Sermon by 'Atallah Abu Al-Subh, former Hamas minister of culture, April 8, 2011 (Translation by MEMRI).
- "The lie of the Zionist Holocaust crumbles with countless holocausts committed by the Zionists in Beit Hanoun, al-Fakhoura school and other places in Palestine." -- Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Zahar, speaking at a memorial service for Palestinians killed during the 2008 Israeli war in Gaza, January 6, 2011.
- [The economic crisis is the result of] "…bad administrative and financial management and a bad banking system put into place and controlled by the Jewish lobby." [The Jewish lobby] "controls the U.S. elections and defines the foreign policy of any new administration in a manner that allows it to retain control of the American government and economy." -- Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhum, October 7, 2008.
