Iranian President Ahmadenijad: Tumor Israel Will Soon Be Destroyed

AFP reports:

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told an annual anti-Israel protest in Tehran on Friday that the Jewish state was a "cancerous tumour" that will soon be excised, drawing Western rebukes. Washington said Ahmadinejad's statements were "reprehensible", while Paris viewed them as "outrageous." Ahmadinejad's diatribe against Israel in his Quds (Jerusalem) Day address was the latest in a long line to have drawn criticism from Western governments. "The Zionist regime and the Zionists are a cancerous tumour," he said. "The nations of the region will soon finish off the usurper Zionists in the Palestinian land.... A new Middle East will definitely be formed. With the grace of God and help of the nations, in the new Middle East there will be no trace of the Americans and Zionists," he said.

MSNBC's Touré: Romney Engaging In The "Niggerization" Of Obama

GOP Convention To Feature Former Obama Co-Chair Artur Davis

The Washington Post reports:

Former congressman Artur Davis from Alabama, who officially seconded President Obama’s nomination at the 2008 Democratic convention, said on Wednesday that he will cap off a remarkable political metamorphosis by addressing the Republican convention this year — calling for Obama’s defeat.
Davis said in a telephone interview that he had been given a speaking slot at the Republican convention in Tampa later this month. Davis said he was not sure yet of the day on which he would speak.
But Davis said he planned to speak for millions of Americans who, like him, had traced a path from hope to disillusionment with Obama. After spending his entire political career as a Democrat, Davis declared earlier this year that he was a Republican.
“The one thing that I can bring to the table is to be something of a voice for that group of people,” Davis said in announcing his speaking slot.

Law Enforcement: Suspect In Family Research Council Shooting Volunteered At Washington LGBT Center

The Associated Press had this report on Floyd Corkins II, of Herndon, Va.:

A man suspected of shooting and wounding a security guard in the lobby of a Christian lobbying group had been volunteering at a community center for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.
A law enforcement official has identified the suspect arrested in Wednesday’s shooting as Floyd Corkins II of Herndon, Va. Investigators were interviewing his neighbors.
Another official says the shooter made a negative reference about the work of the Family Research Council before opening fire. The officials spoke anonymously because they were not authorized to discuss the ongoing investigation.
David Mariner is executive director of The DC Center for the LGBT Community. He says Corkins had been volunteering at the center for about the past 6 months. Mariner describes Corkins as “kind, gentle and unassuming.”

Secret Service Thanks Baker That Refused To Host VP Joe Biden Over Obama's "You Didn't Built That" Remark

From Joel Gehrke of the Examiner:

Why in the world would a new business owner say “no” to a photo op with the Vice President of the United States?
McMurray said it was President Obama’s recent remarks about small business and who built what.
“Very simply, ‘you didn’t build that’” McMurray said. “Speaking of small businesses and entrepreneurs all across this country and actually last night my wife was up all night. No sleep, she’s worked a full 24 hours.”...
Here’s the back story, we’re told that shortly after Crumb and Get It told Biden’s advance people ‘no’ — the secret service walked in and told Chris McMurray ”Thanks for standing up and saying ‘no’ — then they bought a whole bunch of cookies and cupcakes.

Romney Slams Obama In Tough New Speech: "Mr. President, Take Your Campaign Of Division And Anger And Hate Back To Chicago"

The Hill reports:

Mitt Romney used a tough new campaign speech to personally blast the Obama campaign on Tuesday, saying comments earlier in the day from Vice President Biden are "what an angry and desperate Presidency looks like." "Mr. President, take your campaign of division and anger and hate back to Chicago," Romney said while campaigning in Ohio. Romney was responding to Biden's suggestion that the GOP ticket's economic policies would “put y’all back in chains." The vice president made the remark while campaigning in Virginia, during a discussion of Wall Street regulation. "They’ve said it. Every Republican’s voted for it. Look at what they value and look at their budget and what they’re proposing. Romney wants to let the — he said in the first 100 days, he’s going to let the big banks once again write their own rules — unchain Wall Street," Biden said. "They’re going to put y’all back in chains. He’s said he’s going to do nothing about stopping the practice of outsourcing." Romney repeatedly and harshly criticized Team Obama for the remarks. "His campaign and his surrogates have made wild and reckless accusations that disgrace the office of the Presidency. Another outrageous charge came a few hours ago in Virginia. And the White House sinks a little bit lower," Romney said. "This is an election in which we should be talking about the path ahead, but you don't hear any answers coming from President Obama’s re-election campaign. That’s because he's intellectually exhausted, out of ideas, and out of energy. And so his campaign has resorted to diversions and distractions, to demagoguing and defaming others. This is an old game in politics; what’s different this year is that the president is taking things to a new low." Romney's remarks echo those of his campaign spokeswoman, who earlier in the day called Biden's remarks a "new low."
