Iran Set To Double Nuclear Fuel Capability

The Wall Street Journal reports:

Iran has finished installing nearly 3,000 nuclear-fuel production machines at its underground military facility near the holy city of Qom, providing Tehran the capability to double its production of medium-enriched uranium in the coming months, a new report said.
These advances, outlined in a report on Iran by the International Atomic Energy Agency, the United Nations nuclear watchdog, could allow Tehran's Islamist leaders to accumulate in as little as three to four months enough uranium enriched to 20% purity for one atomic weapon, according to nuclear experts.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has cited this level of nuclear-fuel production by Tehran as the "red line" for when the Jewish state might launch military strikes against Iran's nuclear facilities. Iran was likely to amass this stockpile of fissile material by next summer, Mr. Netanyahu estimated in a September speech at the U.N.

The installation of the nearly 3,000 centrifuge machines at Qom could allow it to reach this point much quicker, experts say, if the machines there and at a second nuclear-fuel site at the city of Natanz are utilized.
"The number of centrifuges are steadily increasing, which diminishes the time for a breakout for a nuclear weapon in two ways," said Olli Heinonen, a former chief weapons inspector at the IAEA. "Iran's inventories will increase as well as its pace of production."

Rockets Fired From Muslim Brotherhood Egypt Hitting Israel

"Terrorists in the Sinai Peninsula launched rockets into Israel Friday night," reports the Jerusalem Post. "The rockets fell near an Israeli village on the southern border, causing some damage, but no injuries."

The Israeli daily Haaretz reports, "Rockets fired from direction of Egypt toward Eshkol Regional Council."

"After Tel Aviv metropolitan area, capital under fire too: An air raid siren was sounded in Jerusalem and surrounding communities early Friday evening. After residents reported hearing blast sounds, security forces confirmed that one rocket had landed in the Gush Etzion area near a Palestinian village," Ynet reports.

Israel's "Iron Dome" Blocks More Missile Attacks On Tel Aviv

The Jerusalem Post reports:

The Iron Dome intercepted two Iranian-made Fajr-5 missiles aimed at Tel Aviv on Saturday. The missiles marked the third attack on the heavily populated central city in as many days, after Palestinian terrorists from Gaza fired four missiles toward the financial capital on Thursday and Friday, prompting red alert air raid sirens to sound in the city.

Twinkies – And 18,000 Jobs – Fall Victim To Union-Management Dispute

18,000 jobs will also disappear because of these unions:

“We deeply regret the necessity of today’s decision, but we do not have the financial resources to weather an extended nationwide strike,” said Gregory F. Rayburn, chief executive officer. “Hostess Brands will move promptly to lay off most of its 18,500-member workforce and focus on selling its assets to the highest bidders.”
About one-third of the company’s workers are union members who are unhappy about the company’s cutbacks during its bankruptcy reorganization.
But problems with several unions — including the Bakery, Confectionery, and Tobacco workers and the Grain Millers International Union — have prevented the company from moving forward. Hostess said it will seek bankruptcy court permission to sell all of its assets. The company said bakery production has already shut down.

David Petraeus Says CIA Talking Points Included References To Organized Terrorist Attack In Benghazi

Foxnews.com reports:

Former CIA Director David Petraeus stoked the controversy over the Obama administration's handling of the Libya terror attack, testifying Friday that references to "Al Qaeda involvement" were stripped from his agency's original talking points -- while other intelligence officials were unable to say who changed the memo, according to a top lawmaker who was briefed.
Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., told Fox News that intelligence officials who testified in a closed-door hearing a day earlier, including Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and Acting CIA Director Mike Morell, said they did not know who changed the talking points. He said they went out to multiple departments, including the State Department, National Security Council, Justice Department and White House.
"To me the question right now is who changed those talking points and why. ... I'd say it was somebody in the administration had to have taken it out," King told Fox News. "That, to me, has to be pursued."

BBC Bias Against Israel: Lying About Gaza Victim

Brietbart's William Bigelow reports:

Is there a limit to the number of times the news media will act as willing accomplices for Palestinian propaganda? Apparently not. The BBC, which has been an enemy of Israel for years, even going so far as to quote as an authority noted Israel hater Richard Falk, who has compared Israelis to Nazis, has now been caught cutting a video showing a “victim” of the Israeli attack on Gaza being carried out, seriously wounded. One problem. In the same video thirty seconds later, the same man is standing on his own two feet. It’s a miracle! The BBC’s hostility to Israel has been evidenced by acts like these:
BBC journalist Barbara Plett said she “started to cry” when Yasser Arafat left Israel and traveled to France for medical treatment in 2004. In 2006, reporter Orla Guerin lied that the town of Bint Jbeil, Lebanon, had been “wiped out” by the Israeli air force. It later turned out that the suburbs were left virtually untouched. When the Fogel family of five was butchered in their home, including a baby girl in her bed, in Itamar, the BBC barely mentioned it, saying that it had been a “very busy news period.” On October 5th of this year, Jeremy Bowen, the BBC’s Middle East Editor, retweeted a tweet by one Joseph Dana, who was “curious that Israeli forces can fire tear gas and use stun grenades next to the Al Aqsa mosque and the story doesn’t make international waves.” The chances of this happening are slim and none; the Al Aqsa Mosque is one of the most explosive places on earth. What actually happened was this: several hundred Arab worshippers stoned the Israeli police, an Arab man tried to stab a police officer, and then the Israeli police dispersed the crowd. Of course, Dana lives in Ramallah, and hates Israel so much that, when he spoke in November 2011 at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, he stated that he had managed to extricate himself from a “Zionist indoctrination programme.”
No wonder the BBC thinks a Palestinian acting a part is really wounded. The BBC has been acting like an objective news source for years.

The BBC reports:

Hamas militants have launched a rocket on Jerusalem - the first time the holy city has been targeted in decades - and the first such attack from Gaza.

The AP Issues "Correction" About Jerusalem As Capital Of Israel

Politico reports:

Friday morning, The Associated Press blasted this tweet for a story on Gaza-Israel conflict: “Air raid sirens wail in Jerusalem, signaling a possible rocket attack aimed at Israel's capital: http://apne.ws/U3UaeK -KH.” Just over a half hour later, the AP issued a “correction” tweet: “Air raid sirens in Jerusalem signal a possible rocket attack aimed at Israel's self-declared capital: http://apne.ws/ZXOoMR -KH (correction).”

Israel Warns of Escalation After Tel Aviv Suburb Attacked By Rocket

Bloomberg reports:

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak signaled that Israel is ready to escalate its military operations against Gaza after at least one long-range missile was fired at Tel Aviv by Palestinian militants. The missile attack and the volume of fire in general toward Israel “is an escalation and there will be a price to pay,” Barak said on Channel 2 television yesterday. It was the first such attack on Israel’s commercial hub since Iraqi missiles in 1991 during the Gulf War. Neither side showed signs of yielding as international diplomacy ramped up. Hamas kept up rocket fire in the most serious conflict since Israel sent troops into Gaza in December 2008 in a three-week offensive it said was aimed at stopping such attacks. Israeli Army Spokesman Brigadier General Yoav Mordechai told Channel 2 that the military was calling up 30,000 reservists hours after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the military was ready for a “substantial expansion” to stop rocket attacks.

Iran Launches Massive Military Drills

The Free Beacon reports:

Iran test-fired an anti-aircraft missile system during a mock fight against Western forces early Wednesday as it continues to conduct a four-day military display during which it has unveiled several advanced weaponry systems, according to Iranian news reports. Iran’s Air Defense unit successfully fired a newly modified S-200 missile at a jet engine drone during a simulation of a possible attack on American or Israeli fighter planes, according to Iran’s Fars News Agency. The system reportedly is capable of targeting aircraft flying at mid and high altitudes. “The S-200 missile is a surface-to-air long-rang missile which is able to counter strategic aircrafts and semi-ballistic missiles,” Brigadier General Farzad Esmaeili was quoted telling reporters, according to the Mehr News Agency. The drills began on Monday and are aimed at highlighting a handful of new domestically produced missile and defense systems capable of repelling an attack by Western nations. An estimated 8,000 Iranian military forces are said to be participating in the drills, which are noteworthy for both their scope and scale. Iran test-fired “medium-range and low-altitude missile systems” during Tuesday’s military display, according to separate reports. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and its Armed Forces jointly conducted an air drill Tuesday, according to Mehr. Military leaders also revealed a new domestically manufactured artillery system that is capable of hitting targets “with pinpoint accuracy” that “cannot be detected by the enemy’s tracking systems,” according to the report. The unveiling of these advanced weapons and missiles is believed to be a warning to America and Israel against conducting a military strike on Iran’s nuclear sites. “Too often, the White House and Pentagon look at these Iranian exercises and conclude they have more time, especially when something the Iranians try goes wrong,” said Michael Rubin, a former Pentagon adviser on Iran and Iraq. “This policy of procrastination is no substitute for strategy, however—after all, the Iranians can learn just as much from their mistakes as they can from their successes.” The use of new missile systems indicates that Iran continues to have success building weaponry domestically despite Western economic sanctions. “At the very least, the exercises show the trajectory in which the Iranian military would like to go,” Rubin said. “The exercises also should underline the notion that Iran’s indigenous arms industry is formidable and that sanctions alone will not be able to stop the regime.” Iran also unveiled on Tuesday a missile system reportedly capable of striking air targets, Mehr reported. The new “Mersad” system “uses domestically manufactured Shahin missiles, which are even more advanced than the 1970s-era U.S.-manufactured Hawk missiles,” the report states. These new weapons systems should be viewed with caution, Rubin said. “We can pooh-pooh Iran’s conventional weaponry but should the regime develop nukes, all the regional states will be facing these new conventional missiles and systems every hour of every day, as the Iranians conclude that no one would dare retaliate against a country that has its own nuclear deterrent.” Iranian military leaders have used the drills as an occasion to threaten the U.S. “The era of military threats of the United States is past,” Major General Hassan Firouzabadi said on Tuesday, accordingto Mehr. The major drills also come on the heels of a military flare up between the U.S. and Iran. Iran fired on an unmanned American surveillance drone earlier this month, according to reports. This was the first such attack by the Iranian regime. Firouzabadi referred to the incident as a sign of Iran’s regional strength. “We observed that the forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran powerfully shot at the U.S. drone and gave a firm response to them,” Mehr quoted him as saying. Iran has increased both its military bluster and capabilities in recent months. “There’s a lot of chatter out there about possible diplomatic breakthroughs with Iran,” said Rubin. “And in the corridors of [the State Department], there’s hope that the Iranians will somewhere, somehow reach out for Obama’s outstretched hand.” The country’s oil output is said to have risen in October after seven straight months of plummeting sales. Iran’s continued aggression should be viewed as a sign of things to come, Rubin said. “It’s hard to accuse the Iranians of deceit,” he said. “After all, they signal their intentions every day. And these military exercises are that signal.”

Harry Reid: Reforming Social Security Off The Table, "Not Part Of The Problem"

From the Washington Times:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Wednesday that he will not allow changes in Social Security to be part of the negotiations to avoid a federal budget fiscal cliff, further narrowing the opportunities for savings that could be tapped to close the deficit. Republicans have insisted that big entitlement programs such as Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid be part of the end-of-year negotiations to head off tax-rate increases and the $110 billion in automatic spending cuts. …  “Social Security is not part of the problem, That’s one of the myths the Republicans have tried to create,” he said. “Social Security is sound for the next many years. But we want to make sure that in the outer years people are protected also, but it’s not going to be part of the budget talks, as far as I’m concerned.” … “I’m giving you my personal feelings about where we need to go. Take care of the middle class and have the richest of the rich contribute a little bit to helping our economy,” he said.

Secession Petitions On White House Website Reach 675,000 Signatures: How Andrew Jackson Responded To Secession In 1832

Petitions to "secede" on the White House's “We the People” online petition system have reached 675,000 signatures and 50-state participation. Various States have reached the 25,000 mark at which point the White House promises to respond. Here's how the White House's Andrew Jackson responded to secession in his 1832 "Proclamation to the People of South Carolina":

"The Constitution of the United States...forms a government, not a league, and whether it be formed by compact between the States, or in any other manner, its character is the same. It is a government in which all the people are represented, which operates directly on the people individually, not upon the States; they retained all the power they did not grant. But each State having expressly parted with so many powers as to constitute jointly with the other States a single nation, cannot from that period possess any right to secede, because such secession does not break a league, but destroys the unity of a nation, and any injury to that unity is not only a breach which would result from the contravention of a compact, but it is an offense against the whole Union. To say that any State may at pleasure secede from the Union, is to say that the United States are not a nation because it would be a solecism to contend that any part of a nation might dissolve its connection with the other parts, to their injury or ruin, without committing any offense. Secession, like any other revolutionary act, may be morally justified by the extremity of oppression; but to call it a constitutional right, is confounding the meaning of terms, and can only be done through gross error, or to deceive those who are willing to assert a right, but would pause before they made a revolution, or incur the penalties consequent upon a failure."

Catholic Bishops Pledge Defiance To Obamacare Birth Control Mandate

The US Conference of Catholic Bishops announced their will be  no "capitulation" on their part:

A top American bishop said Tuesday the Roman Catholic church will not comply with the Obama administration requirement that most employers provide health insurance covering birth control.  New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, said church leaders are open to working toward a resolution with federal officials, but will meanwhile press ahead with challenges to the mandate in legislatures and in court. “The only thing we’re certainly not prepared to do is give in. We’re not violating our consciences,” Dolan told reporters at a national bishops’ meeting. “I would say no door is closed except for the door to capitulation.”

Egypt Threatens To Get Involved And Back Hamas With "Swift Arab...Action"

Brietbart's Ben Shapiro reports:

Today, Egypt’s Freedom and Justice Party, the political wing of the Muslim Brotherhood – a party formerly headed by current President Mohammed Morsi – announced that Egypt would get involved if Israel continued to kill terrorists in the Gaza Strip. Such Israeli action, said the party, would prompt “swift Arab and international action to stop the massacres.” The party also warned that Israel “must take into account the changes in the Arab region and especially Egypt … [Egypt] will not allow the Palestinians to be subjected to Israeli aggression, as in the past.” The question now is whether the Obama administration will be able to prevent Egypt from attempting overt or covert intervention on behalf of Hamas in the Gaza Strip. If the United States leads from behind – or worse, if they show daylight with Israel – Israel’s security will be in grave danger. Even as dozens of rockets are fired at Israel, the Obama administration has yet to say anything. The Obama administration, by contrast, couldn’t shut up about a YouTube video even as Americans were slaughtered in Benghazi. And Obama continues to tout the Arab Spring as an awakening for freedom and liberty rather than for Islamism. No wonder Israel’s neighbors in the north (Syria) and south (Gaza and Egypt) are getting aggressive. They have a friend in the White House.

Israel Hits Back At Gaza After Palestinian Rocket Attacks: Top Hamas Terrorist Eliminated

Haaretz reports that Israel has initiated "Operation Pillar of Cloud" against Gaza terrorists. A top Hamas terrorist responsible for the kidnapping of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit has already been taken out:

The Israel Defense Forces on Wednesday killed the Hamas military chief in Gaza, Ahmed Jabari, in an airstrike. The attack comes after a four-day escalation on the Israel-Gaza border. Jabari, 52, was the man behind the abduction of IDF soldier Gilad Shalit in 2006. The Palestinian Islamist group said an Israeli airstrike hit a car in the Gaza Strip, killing both Jabari, who ran the organization's armed wing, the Izz el-Deen Al-Qassam, and a passenger. Israel's Shin Bet domestic intelligence service confirmed it had carried out the attack, saying it had killed Jabari because of his "decade-long terrorist activity." IDF Spokesperson said the purpose of the strikes was to deal a heavy blow to the Hamas command and control apparatus and to the organization's terrorist infrastructure... Jabari is the most senior Hamas official to be killed since Operation Cast Lead in Gaza four years ago. He has long topped Israel's most-wanted list. Jabari, a relative of one of the founders of Hamas, Dr. Abdel Aziz Rantisi, was responsible for the attack on Kerem Shalom, when IDF soldier Gilad Shalit was kidnapped and two other soldiers killed. Jabari was in charge of negotiations during Shalit's five years in captivity. On Tuesday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told mayors of southern Israeli cities under rocket attack that it was his responsibility to choose the right time to "exact the heaviest price" for the continual rocket fire from Gaza. Since the flare-up with Gaza began, Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak have promised a sharp Israeli response to the rocket fire. During the Be'er Sheva meeting with the southern Israeli mayors, Netanyahu said that Israel is not expected to undertake significant military action in Gaza at this stage, or to renew assassinations of Gaza militants. "I am responsible for us choosing the right time to exact the heaviest price, and so be it," Netanyahu said. "Whoever thinks that they can damage the daily lives of residents of the south, and that they won't pay a heavy price for this – they are mistaken."
Hamas is now saying the elimination of Jabari has "opened the gates of hell" for the Israelis:
The Qassam Brigades issued a furious communique in response to Jaabari's death, saying Israel had "opened the gates of hell on itself."
The Weekly Standard provides more on Jabari and other targets:
Earlier today, Israel struck at dozens of targets inside Gaza, including Ahmed Jabari, Hamas’s chief of staff and a senior official in the organization’s military outfit, the Izz ad-din al-Qassam Brigades. Jabari was behind the abduction of Gilad Shalit, and planned the 2007 coup that left Hamas in complete control of Gaza. Sources claim that other passengers in the targeted car riding with Jabari were also killed, including his son, his bodyguard, and Ahmed al-Zahhar, the brother of Hamas’s cofounder Mahmoud al-Zahhar. According to some sources, the assassination of Jabari may be Israel’s most successful direct hit since it targeted Hezbollah commander Imad Mughniyeh in Damascus in 2008. In addition to eliminating Jabari, Israel has also reportedly killed another military official, Raed al-Attar, Jabari's second in command. What Israeli officials are calling Operation Pillar of Defense has also concentrated on Hamas’s arsenal, especially its long- and medium-range missiles, some of which are believed capable of reaching Israel’s northernmost cities. “Israel has had more than 800 missiles fired on its citizens over the last year,” an Israeli official told me this morning. “We held fire for a year but decided that it’s enough. We won’t let Hamas hold our cities hostage.”

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Plans To Go To UN For Statehood, Ignoring Obama's Request To Abandon "This Step"

The AP reports:

A spokesman for the Palestinian president says the Palestinians will proceed with asking the U.N. General Assembly to recognize a Palestinian state, despite a personal call from President Barack Obama to abandon the bid. … He said Obama “expresses his opposition to this step,” but Abbas replied he would carry on. In Washington, the White House press office said that Obama “reiterated the United States’ opposition to unilateral efforts at the United Nations.”
Obama also “reaffirmed his commitment to Middle East peace and his strong support for direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians” for a peace accord, the White House said.

Iranian VP: We Will Break Obama's "Grasping Hands"

The AP reports:

Iran's vice president said Monday that Tehran will break the `grasping hands' of newly re-elected President Barack Obama, the official IRNA news agency reported. Mohammad Reza Rahimi also said Iran will overcome U.S.-led sanctions against the country. "We will break grasping hands of Obama and we will be successful in bypassing the sanctions," Rahimi was quoted as saying during a research and scientific exhibition at Tehran University. Iranian officials dismiss the impact of last week's U.S. elections, suggesting it will have little impact on Washington's Iran policy. On Thursday President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad mocked the cost of campaigning, dubbing the vote a "battleground for capitalists" Rahimi is known for hardline anti-Western statements. In June, he blamed global drug use on the teachings of Jewish holy texts.

The appeal also seeks to have the military judge presiding over his case, Col. Gregory Gross, removed, claiming he is biased against Hasan.

Brother Of French Muslim Gunman Who Killed Three Jewish Children, A Rabbi, And Three Paratroopers: "My Mother Always Said, 'We, The Arabs, We Were Born To Hate Jews'"

From the Associated Press:

The radicalization of the French gunman who killed seven people on an eight-day shooting spree this spring began at home, his brother recounts in a new book and documentary, according to media reports.
Mohamed Merah killed three Jewish children, a rabbi and three paratroopers in and around the southern city of Toulouse in March before dying in a standoff with police. Merah claimed links to al-Qaida and said he had received training at an Islamist paramilitary camp in Pakistan.
One of his brothers, Abdelkader, also faces preliminary charges in the case and is in police custody....
But a new book by another of Merah brother, Abdelghani, says his parents, particularly his mother, are responsible for Mohamed's radicalization....
"I will explain how my parents raised you in an atmosphere of racism and hate before the Salafis could douse you in religious extremism," he writes in "My brother, that terrorist," due out Wednesday. Salafis are ultraconservative Muslims....
"My mother always said, 'We, the Arabs, we were born to hate Jews.' This speech, I heard it all throughout my childhood," Abdelghani says in the documentary, according to the RTL.be website.
Souad, on the other hand, declares how proud she is of her brother, Mohamed.

Israel Responds To Attack, Forced To Shoot Into Syria For First Time Since 1973 Yom Kippur War

The Jerusalem Post reports:

The IDF fired a warning shot, in the form of a guided missile, at the Syrian military on Sunday after a Syrian shell exploded in the Golan Heights for the second time in recent days. Israel has not fired at Syria since the 1973 Yom Kippur War... Israel limited its return fire, since its policy is to only fire intensively in response to coming under major Syrian fire.
